Trapped inside! Can't wait to get out 11/29!

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody. This is my first post. I've been researching the lap band for months and months and couldn't find much new and came across this site. Its so great to hear from people going through the same hoops that I am. I am being banded 11/29/07. I can't wait to step out of this fat suit and be me again...and to be able to tie my shoes without being winded again...and to be able to walk up a flight of stairs without..........

Anne, trapped inside:whoo:

Congrats on your decision to be banded! I'm still a newbie, 10/2, but you will find a TON of support and information on this site. Good luck in your journey!

I remember the first time I bent over and my face turned blue, and I couldn't reach what I was trying to get...and it was because there was a tummy in my way! I was like, "no way! You've got to be kidding me; how did this happen?" (Sigh) It was me...only I was 40 pounds smaller then. Now I would do practically ANYTHING to lose 40 pounds (HA...I got a lap band!...so I am going to lose 110 pounds!)

When people ask me why I would take such drastic measures like getting the lap band I tell them, "Well I rely on my personality and my legs...but truthfully I would really like to give my personality a break!"

So I totally understand what you mean about breaking free of the fat, I can't wait to fly. I know my muscles and will are strong enough. Look out world here I come!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
