Lap band to Sleeve Conversion

Recommended Posts

How many have had the lap band and then converted to the sleeve? And what issues, if any, did you have during this process? And are you happy you did it?

I'm in the process of HOPEFULLY converting my band that I got in 2012 to a sleeve late summer or early fall.

I have had my band removed 3 months ago and my sleeve surgery is this Thursday. I have really struggled without my band for the last 3 months and really miss the signal which used to go to my brain to tell it I was full. With my band I often forgot to eat - without my band I am constantly thinking of food and find I am worst from 4pm in the afternoon. I have NO off switch with bread. As far as the surgery goes I will be able to tell you more after Thursday - I have had no.reflux but lots of burping and bad gas since I had my band removed. Not sure if that is because my stomach is not used to having much food in it from when I was banded for 11 years - but thats really been my only issue thus far.

Oh I wish you the best!! If you don't mind my asking, why are you converting to the sleeve? As for myself, I would never get below 200 pounds, which is a lot for someone 5'3". And then, even though I was working out everyday and watching what I ate, I started gaining what I had lost back. Then I got injured a couple of years ago, and couldn't work out for a while, then it seemed like everything started getting stuck and coming back up. Without consciously realizing it, I started eating slider foods, and never made myself start working out again. So here I am, having gained over half of what I lost back. It just makes me sick because I worked so hard. Now I hear that they're starting to wean the band out completely.
