How long did it take for your insurance to approve you?

Recommended Posts

I've already been to the Nutritionist, Psychologist and had labs. I have an appointment with the cardiologist on the 25th & an appointment with Endo on the 30th. After that I'm DONE! (My wallet will thank me). So my question is - Once you were done, how long did it take for your insurance to approve you? I have a hospital-based insurance so I hope it won't take long.

Originally it took 3 days for them to deny my surgery. Switched hospitals, denied in 2 days because of them not reading the paperwork. 24 hours later they approved it on the phone with my doctor.

Even though they denied you. That wasn't so bad. When was your surgery after they approved you?

I have BCBS Anthem of Louisiana. It took 2 weeks from the paperwork being submitted for the approval to come through.

Cova. Literally one day. I called them. It did take two weeks for me to get a surgery date though.

I'm shopping at goodwill for sure. Then I'll donate them right back. I have some leggings and sundresses that will last through a few sizes. So glad I'm retired. I can be a baggy bum for a bit!

I have Highmark BCBS of PA and My paperwork was submitted last thursday 05/18 and my surgeons office call me the next day to say I was approved. I'm so excited and can't wait for my surgery which is scheduled for 06/02.

I pushed it out as far as could. Thank-goodness I have a boss that is so understanding. Then it just got to the point where I could not get away with it anymore and broke down and shopped. I got 15 pairs of pants and I already started getting rid of ones that don't fit anymore! At least with my shirts if they get to big I can wear them as bum cloths around the house.

You are going to have such a surreal moment when shopping for the first time. let the tears flow because it's your moment. I cannot explain it. Then going through your cloths at home and getting rid of the cloths you wore the crap out of you will have another moment.

I kept a pair of pants as a reminder to not be that.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
