I'm so stressed out!

Recommended Posts

So my wife and I both vape. We have the same pen. She uses nic and I use 0 nic (since I quit smoking). Today I vaped on her pen a lot without realizing it (I did feel dizzy but just assumed it was liver shrink diet related). My surgery is Monday and I'm petrified now. On top of it all, now all I want is nicotine. I have no idea if they will test me the day of surgery. I'm scared of I tell them they'll think it's bull and cancel me. I don't know what to do. This was about two hours ago. Did anyone get tested the day of surgery for nicotine/cotinine?

lol I was vaping up until I was admitted and vaped as soon as I got in the car to go home. I dont think you should be concerned and your craving for nicotine is probably just stress about the surgery. Chill!

Good luck!

Yes 12ml ... All Dr.'s will tell you to quit smoking before a surgery because it affects your circulation. It will also improve your recovery. How much .. I have no idea. They would never not do the surgery because if this. Lets just put it this way .. its better not to smoke .. but its not going stop anything .. just will get a dirty look from your Dr.

They actually tested me a few months ago. I wondered if they test again the day of surgery. Everything I've read seems to state I'd test positive from this mornings vaping. Nothing I can do now really.

I decided to look it up ...

So that is a more detailed answer to your question.. take it or leave it.

I didn't quit and I have had 3 surgeries in the last few years .. no problems. I think they are just covering their butts.

There is precisely 0.0% chance they will test you for nicotine or care if you have had it. Maybe you could smoke something without nicotine to help you calm down some ;-).

Thanks. I don't plan to vape nic anymore. I just don't want a morning of surgery surprise. I knew I should've gotten a different color pen from her. On top of that she had Cinnamon Toast Crunch in her vape and I didn't notice but now I want nicotine and cereal!

You just need to relax and know everything is going to work out! :)

Thanks. I'm trying. It's been a long two years of many many stumbling blocks and things going wrong. It's hard to believe it's happening Monday and that something else won't happen to delay it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
