Angelcharm 13 Posted May 19, 2017 My surgeons office submitted my file to BCBS this week to my insurance. I called the insurance this morning and nothing is showing in the system yet. Does anyone happen to know how long until it pops up in their system? Thank you 1 SeaSounders♥ reacted to this
shull1105 14 Posted May 19, 2017 Can take up to 30 days...but mine only took 2 weeks. 1 Angelcharm reacted to this
Angelcharm 13 Posted May 19, 2017 Thank you for your response. Where in Florida are you based? I am nervous about the approval.
shull1105 14 Posted May 19, 2017 I took a lot of time researching before I began my journey. As long as you have either a BMI of over 40, sleep apnea, high blood pressure or diabetes you should be ok. It needs to prove to be medically necessary or everyone would be doing it. The staff at Sarasota Bariatrics was very helpful and kept me informed every step of the way. I live in Bradenton, but am having the surgery in Sarasota. Angelcharm 13 Posted May 19, 2017 I only have the BMI over 40 to back up my request. I am in South Florida and plan to have surgery with Dr Rabaza in South Miami Hospital.
shull1105 14 Posted May 19, 2017 I had a 40 as well...and mild sleep apnea when the insurance needed a "severe" case. They approved me....so hopefully they will do the same for you. Hopefully your Dr.'s staff can let you know what you can do to get approved...
Angelcharm 13 Posted May 19, 2017 Yes, absolutely. They have been wonderful and their program is one of the best here in my area so I am hoping everything should be smooth.
