4 weeks post op....its hard, you just have to push yourself. Try mixing it up a little. Blend it with Ice. Try the Iconic Cafe Mocha. Its a great Protein Shake with about 20g. Taste just like a Ice coffee.< br>

Unfortunately, I'm one of the few people who hate coffee [emoji30]. I've tried making the shakes into puddings and with ice and it's just so terrible. I'm pushing myself and my fiancé is doing it with me, god bless him, but 2 weeks is so long!

Are you allowed broth and/or sugar free Popsicles? Those things can really help. The broth is warm and more savory than shakes and the sugar free Popsicles feel more like a treat and can give you a crunch if you chew them. Hang in there.

Yeah each Dr is different. I only had to do a week of pure liquid. So I can imagine what you are going thru. The only thing I can tell you thats its worth it.

Are you allowed broths at all? I made my own Bone Broth because I was also craving something savory and still needed Protein. My boyfriend picked up some beef bones from the meat market and we made a fantastic broth.

Quick directions/"recipe"

Sprinkle beef bones with a little salt and pepper and roast at 400 degrees F for about 40 minutes.

Put roasted beef bones into a slow cooker with a few cups of Water and some flavor enhancers of your choice. I used garlic, onions, carrots, a little more pepper and paprika.

Simmer on high for 6 - 8 hours.

Strain out all the solids.

The broth will gel up when it cools, which is the collagen from the bones. It's a good source of protein and Calcium. Think of it as beef stew without the actual beef! :)

How do you get through 2 weeks of shakes? I'm on day 5 and I'm suffering. I want salt. And whenever I see food my stomach growls. How did you succeed? I don't know if I can do this!

I'm know the feeling I'm on only liquid as well but have not deviated once! You need to ask yourself,"Do I EVER want to do this again?" I think we know the answer.

Here's what I'm using for shakes. This makes two 16oz Protein Shakes with around 200 cal 30 g of Protein and 15 g or less carbs. Add ice or Water until just over 32oz & blend. Two scoops of each powder, & 2 cups of most fruit blends keep you in the right range for carbs. Check first so you don't go over. Garden Of Life e also has many nutients & 50 fruit and vegetable super foods. Drink one & save one for later.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
