Hi,

I'm 3 days post op and I'm not sure how I'm feeling. I'm kinda regretful because I'm not used to feeling this way, and I just want to hurry up and feel normal again. The gas pains have been a drag but I've been walking and they're not as frequent. Any advice?

I feel the same way. Today is my second full day home, but I did come home on Tuesday late afternoon. I've been getting in my fluids and going on walks. You're not kidding about the gas! I've had some anxiety especially with thoughts of, "What have I done! Will I ever feel normal again"

It's just nice knowing that I'm not alone in those feelings. The one thing I do to help is just picture a thinner healthier me and remind myself it's all worth it. Hang in there. :-)

Oh you guys! I feel so bad for you. Five days till I go in and I expect feeling like this too. But my NUT said it perfectly normal in the beginning. Keep picturing all the things you want to do once you're better, I like that idea Strega!

I sucked it up and kept moving. Sounds like you are doing exactly that. The more you move the faster you will recover. I also slept a lot but for short periods of time, then up and moving! Rest, drink, walk and repeat. You got this!

I surgery date has been set for Oct. 27th. Reading everyone thoughts and what their feeling a few days post op is scaring the lights out of me. There is no turning back for me, but to be totally honest I'm frightened! Yikes!!

For 2 days after release I paced a lot and slept for about an hour or two at a time sitting up on my couch. The gas and knot in my chest/stomach was horrible. Then I transitioned to side and eventually stomach sleeping. at first on 3-4 pillows almost sitting up now on 1 or 2 if I happen to have some GERD when I sleep.

I was regretful for a few days. I even posted about it. Water hurt to drink. For some reason adding crystal light type flavoring, milk, 1/4 juice + 3/4 water, and hint water all went down much better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
