Joann454 1,329 Posted May 17, 2017 My surgeon called in a script of Prilosec for after surgery. For those that were prescribed this, how soon did you begin taking after surgery? Thanks!
carlychloe2 106 Posted May 17, 2017 They gave me a prescription when I left the hospital to begin when I got home.Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app
PatientEleventyBillion 851 Posted May 17, 2017 (edited) Haven't taken Prilosec for many years (OTC), due to side effects. Took Prevacid (Lansoprazole) for years until surgery. Since discharge I've taken Pantoloc (Pantoprazole) and am prescribed this for 6 months, likely then going back to Prevacid if I need it. The Shrinking Strega 11 Posted May 17, 2017 Today is my first full day home and I took my Prilosec first this this morning. I remember that they gave it to me first thing in the morning via my IV when I was in the hospital. 1 Joann454 reacted to this

The Shrinking Strega 11 Posted May 17, 2017 Hi. I'm slowly on the mend. Today is a little better than yesterday, and yesterday was a little better than the day before-- which was awful. I don't have nausea, but I have definitely get that contraction feeling when a liquid hits my stomach too quickly. I also feel foggy and sore where the stitches are located. I'm sipping 3 ounces of liquid at a time. So basically I'm in the sip, walk, nap and repeat routine. How about you?

The Shrinking Strega 11 Posted May 17, 2017 I was able to swallow the pill. So far I haven't had any problems taking meds. Which is a good thing considering the amount of pills the surgeon prescribed: 4 Aleeve: 2 in the morning/2 in.the evening Prilosec: 1 in the morming 4 anti-spasm meds a day as needed, but to be taken 20 minutes before a meal. Not to mention the ocycodone, stool softener, and my Zoloft

Tessa1988 20 Posted May 18, 2017 A couple days after surgery. I swallowed the pill (with as little Water as I could manage). I had prescription meds I couldn't go a day without, so I had to learn swallowing pills immediately after waking up from surgery 1 Joann454 reacted to this
