touchick156 1 Posted May 16, 2017 Hey there! I'm currently pre-op for the DS. When I went into my first consult I was dead set on getting the VSG, but after learning about each, I'm leaning more towards the DS. I'm 24 and weigh 308 pounds with a BMI of about 46.7. Anyone out there have the DS at a younger age and had success? I haven't found many and am interested to hear some success stories! Heck! Anyone who's had the DS feel free to post your stats! For example: start weight, current weight, surgery date, Protein used, etc anything you think would be helpful!

Berry78 4,261 Posted May 17, 2017 The DS is usually used on those with a BMI of 50+. Personally I would be very concerned about the lifetime malabsorption. You have 60+ years ahead of you in which you'll need to pay utmost attention to your nutrition Every. Single. Day. The sleeve is much more forgiving. And the sleeve leaves room for conversion later if something isn't right. Your BMI is about the same as mine, and I've been having good luck so far. (8 weeks out) Good luck! EmmyJ 184 Posted May 17, 2017 I am 23 and had a bmi of 47 at surgery date, and I had a sleeve. I've been doing very well on it (bmi is 38 now!) and it was only a little over 3 months ago. I didn't think DS was appropriate due to the malabsorption part either! But it's up to you 1 Deactivatedfatgal reacted to this

jackie josey 0 Posted June 16, 2017 Hello My name is Jackie, I had my surgery on May 22, 2017. My first week I question myself, what have I done? I am feeling much better now, I have lost 24 pounds and feeling better. I am starting to wear some of my old to little outfits. The only problem I am having now is Constipation, does anyone else have this problem that had the DS?
