Gastric Bypass weightloss

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, i am hoping to have a Gastric Bypass in June and I would very much appreciate you sharing your success stories.

How long did it take you to recover

How much weight did you lose in the first few months

Anything you want to share, for inspiration.

I am 30, I weigh roughly 113kg and I am 5ft6. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and I fear I will not lose much weight.

I hope to lose weight

Help reverse some PCOS symptoms

Help with my psoriasis

Thank you in advance xx

Hi

I am also 30 and have PCOS and had a mini gastric bypass on 5th March. My starting weight was 118kg/5ft3 and so far I have lost 57lbs without doing any exercise (I'm starting with a personal trainer on Thursday)

I found it so hard to lose weight before the surgery.

I am not going to lie to you, it is hard and the surgery is only the start but if you stick to the eating guide and can mentally cope with not eating large meals then you will be fine.

I am still getting used to my small stomach and some of the 'issues' that can come with it. (E.g gas) but everybody's journey is different.

I don't regret the surgery all at. I see changes in my body every week and my confidence is starting to come back.

I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

Xxx

Thank you so much for your response. What a massive achievement losing that much weight in such little time. Well done you!! I am going for the full gastric bypass.

I was supposed to go on the 23 June but as they have extended their week, they asked if I wanted it on the 13 June. Yikes!!

I tried everything to lose weight and it just didn't come off. food is no longer an issue for me. I can take it or leave it. But the surgery will really help me lose the weight.

Even if I lost what you did, I would be so happy. I bet you have really transformed. Do you have pictures?

As you know with PCOS some tend to have fine hair - I have fine hair but a lot of it. Do you? Have you experienced any Hair loss yet?

The hair on my head has been the only thing I have liked about me, for a long time. It will devastate me to lose it but it is something I am prepared to do.

What changes have you noticed about yourself?

Hi

I am really excited for you to start this journey.

I had super thick hair but not anymore!! I have lost quite a bit of hair but no one else seems to have noticed.

BUT it is only temporary and will grow back around the 6 month mark. I will take a bit of Hair loss over being unhealthy.

I wear my hair up and try not to brush it as much.

Honestly, you will be getting used to your new tummy and focused on healing....hair loss will be the last thing on your mind.

P.s I only made a profile to reply to you because aftet reading your post, I couldn't believe the similarities.

I am here if you ever need to talk or even just vent.

Xx

I must correct myself - I had a birthday very recently so I am actually 31 now haha completely forgot.

I cannot wait to start my journey. I have no doubts at an. I know this is something I have to do.

I am so glad you decided to make a profile and commented. I was so disheartened when no one commented haha

It's very nice (well not under the circumstances) to have found someone who is going through the same as me and has PCOS.

so what have you been doing to lose your weight? No exercise at all?

I have yet to have a consultation - that's on Monday and my dietician is on 30th and then surgery 13 June so it's all go go go ( it's because I am going private) so they just want my money haha...

So I have not really educated on what I need to drink etc. The dietician sent me some information to read which I will later :)

I still can't believe your weightloss :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
