Fastest insurance approval ever

Recommended Posts

My surgeon sent in my packet for authorization on Friday evening and called me today (Monday) at 3 PM to tell me that they have received the insurance approval.

I'm spinning a bit because I was expecting a full two weeks for the insurance to approve my surgery after all the hoop jumping. Even though my surgeons office said it normally takes five days for her to get a decision because she contacts them regularly. I certainly wasn't expecting an approval within 24 business hours! Wow

All of this to just encourage everyone that it is possible to have things go smoothly and much more quickly than anticipated. For me, it was all thanks to patience, kindness, and a whole lot of phone calls to make sure everything was moving forward in each hoop

It's great huh? Do you have a date yet?[emoji6] My approval was so quick I had to refuse 1st date (26th) to prep n take off work

Yes they set the date May 26th the same day they received my last clearance - the day before they submitted my docs for approval.

they told you to expect 30 days! Wow. In my state, insurance companies are legally required to take no longer than 14 days to make a decision.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
