hopekate 85 Posted May 19, 2017 I am 7 weeks out, and for almost a week and a half now my ability to eat has taken a nosedive. Before, I was eating the suggested potion sizes. Now, I can barely eat a few bites before feeling like I ate a horse. I am following all of my surgeons rules about liquids, too. I hope to speak with a nurse tomorrow. This stinks After speaking to the nurse, they wanted to see me asap. The doctor had me go in for a scope yesterday. I had a stricture and gastritis. They used a ballon to expand the tight spot. The only thing that hurt when I work up was my eye. Somehow I got a scratch during surgery! They gave me some antibiotic numbing drops and sent me home. I am now on Carafate 4x a day. I am so hopeful and ready to get back on track. 3 EmEdge, Joann454 and Berry78 reacted to this
nomorefattypatty 329 Posted May 19, 2017 Lol....FYI...2 bites was a descriptive generalization. Not meant to be a standard of weight . Lol. Thanks for your comment and experience though. That's what we are all here for!! [emoji4]I can only dream of being able to feel full on two spoonfuls of anything!Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app

Glad you're getting sorted out! 1 hopekate reacted to this
Joann454 1,329 Posted May 19, 2017 Is there anything we can do ourselves to help prevent strictures?
Berry78 4,261 Posted May 19, 2017 Just keep taking the antacids. Other than that, there isn't anything I know of. It's kinda a natural consequence of the healing/scarring process. The scar just pulls tight. 2 ts81096 and hopekate reacted to this
JRaye 63 Posted June 2, 2017 Sorry to hear about your complication. But thank goodness you mentioned your problem on here and listened to the advice of others and got help. Hope you are on the mend now and doing better.

nomorefattypatty 329 Posted June 4, 2017 Wow... so you went from being able to eat "a lot" to eating very little? I kinda hope that happens to me, too. I am 4 weeks po, and I feel like I can eat a lot...Sent from my SM-G935F using BariatricPal mobile appI totally agree, that's why I'm going through all of this so I can feel full with less food because now I never feel full. June 21 St is my sleeve date and I can't wait.Sent from my N9519 using BariatricPal mobile app
Irish Girl in NW 20 Posted June 5, 2017 I am doing just fine now! It seems that I am still getting used to everything and how "it feels" compared to how I used to eat. I am so enjoying this journey! Thank you all for responding and joining in on the conversation. I'm glad I didn't have any problems and to those of you who think you might, always best to check it out with your doctor for sure!! Thanks everyone! 1 nomorefattypatty reacted to this
