Looking for suggestions on foods you enjoy

Recommended Posts

Ok. I'm 5 months out lost 80 lbs and close to goal. That being said I am very selective on what I eat and would love any suggestions on snack foods that are healthy to expand my Snacks. It's always nice because there is si much out there I will start. I found these bean crisps made if fava Beans, yes fava beans. they are decent in Protein 7 grams and Fiber 5 grams. and 100 calories for an oz.

and go....

I've been making deviled eggs and egg salad (low fat mayo) to snack on-very filling.

String cheese is always good.(Low Fat-Part Skim)

Pre-Portioned Bags of Nuts (Almonds & Cashews are my fav)

Good luck on your journey!

Pork rinds

Pepperoni and cheese

Pepperoni chips (you can microwave pepperoni between pieces of paper towel and they come out crispy and delicious)

Nuts in the shell (it takes longer to eat them if you have to open them)

My go to snacks:

My current favorite snack is toasted walnuts and pecans. I put the raw nuts in a pan, spray with Pam, add some Stevia and some salt, mix, and cook them on median heat until they start to brown. Let them cool and store them in the fridge. I use them on yogurt or just by themselves as Snacks.

My other go-to snacks: Deli meats with a slice of cheese, cold, leftover chicken, or a little salad with avocado and shrimp.

bacon. Hormel pre-cooked black label bacon. heat up in microwave, dab off all the grease. YUM!! Two slices of those and I'm happy. Not much fat or sodium in just two slices. I like to crumble them over some avocado sometimes too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
