So I'm not at goal yet but I'm having the extra skin on my stomach removed because it's giving me so much trouble.

The surgeon said mine will be one of the largest he's done.

My surgery is June 5th.

I'm so nervous because it will be a 5 hour surgery and they had trouble waking me up from my sleeve surgery which was shorter. I woke up with the breathing tube in.

Also he told me I have a higher chance of infection and wound complication because of my past history and some meds I'm on. It will be a 70 cm incision.

I have to stop 2 of my psoriasis meds which also scares me. My psoriasis is pretty severe when not medicated. Even when medicated I can have our breaks. 3 times in my life, and each time worse than the last, I've ended up in the hospital with a really bad out break where basically all my skin comes off.

Even with all these things I feel like I NEED this surgery to improve my quality of life. I'm almost down 260 pounds from my highest of 540 and my extra skin is pretty bad already. I can't do any of the other surgeries until I reach goal but this is one I can do part way.

He's explained that I may need a revision Tummy Tuck when I reach goal since I'm still a little less than 100 pounds away from goal.

Insurance approved coverage first try though which gives you an idea of how bad it is.

I'm just nervous and excited at the same time.

Has anyone had this surgery? What was your recovery like? What were your results?

I don't do well with surgery generally. After the sleeve surgery I was kept 5 days instead of 2 and was in pain for 3 weeks. After my gallbladder removal I was readmitted to the hospital due to pain.

They told me I wouldn't be able to save my belly button. So now I get to tell people I am an alien or was created in a lab..which I'm kind of looking forward to. Lol

I'm so nervous but also so hopeful this will help...

Do you think surgery will be easier for you now that you're so much lighter?
It's scary for sure. They must feel confident you'll do ok though. I can't imagine they'd do it if it were extremely risky.
My friend lost 15 lbs in skin when she had her tummy tuck. You'll be so much closer to goal when you wake up! Sending good vibes!

@Joann454 It might be easier for me now that I weigh almost 200 pounds less than I did at my sleeve surgery. It is pretty scary. It's true they wouldn't do it if they thought it was too much risk. At my preop appointment ho told me all the risks and basically left it up to me whether I still wanted to do it. I still do...

I hope I lose a bunch of pounds of skin haha It would be helpful! Thank you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
