currently my numbers in maintenance are:

Calories - 2000-2200 for weight maintenance

Carbohydrates - whatever isn't fats or protein; no specific goal

Fats - 60g minimum

Protein - 105-110g, based upon maintenance of lean body mass

During loss phase, calories averaged 1100, protein the same 105-110g, fats and carbohydrates wherever they fell while optimizing non-protein nutrition, but typically was calorically split. Fats usually 25-40g, carbohydrates 70-120g.

I don't count calories or carbs. My Protein goal is 75 - 90. I have 2 servings of multigrains and 2 servings of fruit daily, 3 healthy fats daily to include nuts, olive oil, etc and greens veggies if there is room. I probably eat between 1200 - 1300 daily depending on exercise level.

So you are a little less than two months out. The dietitian at the bariatric surgery practice where I follow-up never had me counting calories or macros such as fat and carbs at any point throughout my journey. By the way, I am more than two years out.

The only things they wanted me to track were grams of Protein and ounces of Water consumed. Here's the reasoning: those who consume a minimum of 80 grams of protein and 60+ ounces of water each day should feel enough fullness and satiety to not overeat. Also, dietary fat is not what makes people fat.

The lack of counting calories and macros worked for me. I have never weighed or measured my food or tracked my macros, yet I reached my goal weight and have been maintaining. Based on a few spot checks, I estimate I consume about 2000 calories a day at 2+ years out.

Hi. If you've had the traditional DS, there is no need to ever count calories. That's one of the beauties of the procedure. We also don't count fat grams. Eat full fat butter, mayo, yogurt. etc. We need this to help things move through the system.

Once you're able to eat enough (or supplement with a Protein Drink until you can just eat and not need it) we aim for over 100 Protein grams/day. I eat between 125-150 most days.

Try and hold your carbs under 50gr. per day (esp. during the losing phase).

At 7.5 months post op, I eat about 1300 calories per day with 20 grams of carbs, 120-130 grams of Protein, and a healthy dose of fat (I don't track the fat specifically).

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
