Struggling with fluid &food intake. Husband deployed. 4/19 surgery date

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

i am super struggling with with so much right now and I feel like I'm just a big bawl baby.

My surgury date was 4/19. My husband deployed with the army for a year on 5/4.

Im dehydrated. I'm exhausted. I thought I was healing up pretty well but 2 days ago my stomach started hurting on the upper right side. Has anyone else experienced this?

i am feeling so completely overwhelmed. I am scared of failing and right now I'm having a difficult time even drinking enough Water.

Im not getting the 75 oz of water everyday. I'm struggling with getting enough Protein. On top of the surgery I'm missing my husband terribly. He is my best friend in the whole world and we are so happy together. And all of the sudden I'm trying to be my own support group and his as he is adjusting to all the changes too.

is anyone else going through this?! I feel so terribly alone right now. What did you do to get through it?

Hey there!! What kind of surgery did you have? First off, congrats to you. You did it. You had it. I know what you're going through surgery wise, however I can't imagine feeling how you feel with your husband gone. I was single when I had my gastric bypass surgery almost 11 months ago. The day of my surgery I was 362 lbs. Today I weigh 218 lbs. It will be a struggle. Fluids, Protein, getting all your Vitamins in- it will be a challenge but let me tell you, you can do it and it is so worth it! You just have to pull through. I did a large portion of things leading up to my surgery and some recovery time alone. I didn't feel alone though. I was learning my new body, learning new things about myself. Making new goals, and for the first time in my life following through with them! I had me. I also had support from friends and family and we are strangers but I am here for you! You got this. Keep that head held high and stay positive!!

Congratulations on having surgery! I had the sleeve on 4/26 and it has been a learning experience from day one. The challenge for me has been getting in enough Protein, enough Water, my daily medications, dressing changes, etcetera etcetera. I had to write down everything in a notebook to ensure I was doing what needed to be done each day. I am still trying to fit in 64 oz of water daily. I have a pillbox for my meds and Vitamins, and I have a chart I write daily to keep track of protein and water. It is getting easier, and I hope that it gets easier for you. There are a lot of great tips in the forums on here and I have learned a lot by just reading them. You will find what works for you :). Until then, we are here for you!!!

Wow, you poor thing. You have been through a lot. I'm sorry you're feeling like this. To answer your question about the pain in your upper right side, it sounds like your gallbladder. If I were you, I'd shoot the doctor's office an email or call tomorrow morning and let them know.

I had my surgery 4/24 and some days I hit my Water intake and some I don't. It's life. It's hard and all of this is a learning curve for us. All you can do is wake up and try to do better the next day. That's the easy part. The hard part is the emotional side with your husband leaving and I have zero advice for that, but I do lend you my sympathy. Hopefully, everyday will get easier than the last and make sure you vent your feelings often. Try to do one thing just for you everyday and put any and all sadness in a letter for him. You don't even have to mail them, but once you write it down you get a release.

Good luck and I'm pulling for you. And, if you're a momma, Happy Mother's Day :780_sparkling_heart: :780_sparkling_heart::780_sparkling_heart:

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
