13 days ago I had a stomach.

Recommended Posts

It's weird I had my surgery May 1 & haven't eaten anything just fluids broth, Water, Premier Protein shakes with lots and lots of ice and Crystal light. I'm not hungry one bit. I went to the doctor yesterday to get my staples taken out and spoke to my surgeon said I was doing really good I lost 20 pounds but I feel like I could drink more liquids easyish now. I'm curious in two days when I could start eating soft. Foods how it's going to feel in my stomach. This is all such a weird feeling.

Liquids are easier but food, nope! I was sleeved 4/18 and 1/8th of cup satisfies me. If I eat 1/4 I'm too full.

Oh. The staples that were taken off we're on the surface of my stomach to hold the incisions together that the surgeon made for the tools that were used during surgery.

Most people don't get incision staples that have to be removed later. I certainly didn't. I can't remember if I had dissolvable stitches or glue; either way, no action required post-op.

Since you've been on liquids, I'd recommend your first solids are like pudding consistency. You will get full very quickly. My first thing I tried was blended up split pea Soup. Was full after 2-3 spoonfuls.

For sure I have a list of things and a vitamix to purée everything.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
