My family is going to play putt putt tomorrow for Mother's Day and will get ice cream after. I wonder if I can have a little sf soft serve? I had rny last Monday, May 8. Thoughts?

With all the respect in the world, do you really think that's a good idea? You need to change your mindset and ice cream, even SF ice cream 6 days from surgery is counter to every reason you had surgery. Reread your plan from your surgeons office and remember why you just had major surgery. Plus, is it really worth it? How good is SF ice cream anyway. ?

Are you the mother being celebrated with this putt putt ice cream excursion? Maybe everyone else can skip the ice cream in your honor since it's your day, instead of you having to feel tempted by stuff that's not on your plan!

Well I've never had SF ice cream, so I don't know how good it is. I know my boys haven't liked seeing me "not" eat anything and thought they'd like to know I enjoyed something on Mother's Day, even if I can't enjoy lunch with them.

Everyone is different, I had rny back on April 23 and I had a half a cup of breyers no sugar added vanilla ice cream and no problems, my doc said to just experiment to see what I could handle or not. I have no problems with anything I have tried. She said to not ignore your cravings, onceI had a little , I was fine. My program dropped the puree diet so I am now on soft foods and on the 22nd will be going on reg. I say go for that little bit of ice cream.

For me personally, I have a hard time with sugar free foods because of the sugar alcohols. Everyone is different though. The key is moderation!

Well you'll probably be ok try a few bites slowly to see how you handle it...maybe stay near the bathroom just in case [emoji5]; . What worries me a little is your 6 days out and while ice cream is soft it does have a consistency so that can feel weird at first so be careful!!!

I just had a 1/4 cup of Halo Top. I was told I could have it. SF pudding is a no go for me. It was a nice change from shakes. Now to see how I tolerate it.

I should add, I'm five days out and on full liquids.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
