4.5 months and been stalling for a month

Recommended Posts

I had rny 12/30/16 my weight was 289. The first three months the weight was just falling off. I am now 4.5 months out and lost only seven pounds for the month of April and no pounds so far in may. Im down to 233 pounds. I get all my Protein in for the day. I get all of Fluid in. I exercise four times a week which I alternative between running, walking, and strangrhe training. I have lost several inches I went from a 22 to a 14 in pants and from a 3x to a large in shirts. So I'm definitely losing. I didn't have any complications after surgery no vomiting extra surgeries or any problems. But I am looking at other ppls progress and some are down ninety pounds. Am I doing something wrong?. I know we all lose at all different rates but I'm getting nervous. I do eat carbs from fruit and veggies maybe between 30-50 a day only because I do weight lifting and I mean light weights nothing extreme. Help me. I need advice and encouragement.

I don't have any advice other than to hang in there. I'm in a similar situation, only losing about 1-2 pounds a week, sometimes less and I was sleeved 1/4. My weightloss has been fluctuating with good weeks and weeks where I don't lose anything, but overall the trend continues to show progress and the scale never creeps up (even if it is up a pound or two from one day to the next). I try to look at it as slower is better. Also, make sure you are getting enough carbs in. My doc said at this point I should be taking in more carbs than Protein - the nutritionist set my macros to 40/30/30. That was a hard adjustment for me after having low carb/high protein drilled into my head. But we're only 4 1/2 months out with so far to go. We will get there! Think where you will be in another four months.

How many calories are you taking in per day? At 4.5 months I was at 800 - 1000 minimum. You many not be eating enough, especially on those days you are exercising. That said, the weight loss does slow down the farther out you are from surgery.

My NUT has me eating 4- 5 meals daily - approx. 3 oz Protein at each meal, 2 multigrains and 2 fruits daily (not at the same meal) and 3 healthy fats (nuts, olive oil, guacamole, etc).

I lost 37 pounds the first month, then 9, then 13, then 9, then 15, then 15, and probably may only lose 10 for the 7th month.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
