Help! I ate a whole Pizza. How??

I mean you can basically eat whatever you want. I know I can eat a whole large thin crust if I wanted. The crust crumble to mush like crackers and I know that pizza toppings are a slider for me. It might take me a few hours but I could totally do it.

You made a mistake one time, learn from it and don't do it again.

Losing weight after WLS is all about the food choices you make post op. You can easily eat around any surgery.

If you just follow people on IG, I suggest you stop, unless you are look for what no to do. I follow a lot of people on Instagram, their diets are bad, they lose weight in the beginning just because they are healing but they never get to goal or even close and they end up yo-yo dieting and worse.

I seriously just wrote a post almost identical to this a couple weeks ago. I also had no restriction from the carbs and just kept eating like it was nothing. Lesson was learned and I've moved on.

Carbs do NOT fill up the tummy like Protein and you can just eat, and eat, and eat with little problem. In the end, I realize I have to make better choices and plan my meals every single minute to avoid overeating. I'm also 3.5 months out and thought my restriction would help more but it didn't. I thought I was over the binging but I guess I may struggle with that forever. Just don't get too discouraged. I moved on from the day and I've lost 9 lbs since then. Just do better each day, that's all we can do! Good luck to you!

Just because you CAN eat something doesn't mean you SHOULD! I'm a little over 3 months I can eat a couple bites of crust and then just the topping off a slice. I can not fathom how you ate a hole pizza.
You definitely need to get into therapy.

The moisture content of food really matters. if it has a lot of sauce and a thin crust, it is basically a puree once you chew and pretty easy to eat a whole pizza.

Not to mention anyone can eat a whole pizza with enough time.

It is really a lot easier than people think.

If we all were always "on track on eating clean" none of us would have any problems. I would guess most of have episodes of eating the wrong foods, too much food, lose our minds.....etc. The difference between failing and being successful is not the complete absence of "I think I just lost my mind" episodes but the ability to get right back to it once the episode is over. Failing from time to time is part of the process.......so don't confuse it with "being a failure". It's a process, a journey and to think you're never going to slip is not being realistic. I have a little saying in my bathroom "I fall down, I get up and meanwhile I keep dancing". Keep dancing and you'll reach your goal.

Please stop judging. We have ALL binged and overate, then felt that guilt. We wouldn't have needed weight loss surgery to begin with if we weren't all guilty of this. food has always controlled us. It's our drug of choice. No surgery will change our way of thinking and coping. A therapist will help. Also try Food Addicts Annonymous or Overeaters Anonymous. Today is a new day, you got this!

Ah, come on... carbs may be sliding down easier than very Protein rich foods (they do, no question about that) but it's not like you're getting no restriction at all from foods like Pasta, bread or pizza so you can binge your way into oblivion the moment a carb manages to get into your pouch.

That's why it might be worth thinking about pouch size or pizza size first before jumping to whatever conclusions.

You are definitely not a psychiatrist who's able to decide if someone needs therapy or not.

Ah, come on... carbs may be sliding down easier than very Protein rich foods (they do, no question about that) but it's not like you're getting no restriction at all from foods like Pasta, bread or pizza so you can binge your way into oblivion the moment a carb manages to get into your pouch.

Actually, I haven't eaten pasta/bread/pizza so I wouldn't know. What I do know is that when I lost my mind that day at the beach I was eating corn dogs, Cookies, tater tots and twinkies there was NO restriction (for myself) with those particular foods. I'm sorry if that doesn't register with you, and you somehow know the rate and capacity of which carbs land in my sleeve. I did eat an enormous amount of food, compared to what my normal day would have been, over an 8 hour period. It's wonderful if your sleeve restricts well with carbs but mine doesn't. And, I consider eating herself into oblivion by consuming an entire pizza at 3.5 months post op. Not all of us are the same.

I did want to say, despite the squabbling the topic has caused, thank you for asking about this. pizza was a super weak spot for me preop, so I'm sure I would have problems with it now too!

You've been eating Soup, eggs, and optifast.. You need to eat much more substantial food. Solid cuts of Protein will give you some much needed satisfaction. I had a couple bites of rare steak today. Chewing for EVER, and so satisfying. Baked fish tomorrow.

Check on pintrest for pizza recipes with a cauliflower crust. Pizza was also, is also, lol my favorite food. I am going to find a recipe that will satisfy that craving. Yesterday, my daughter had a chicken, broccoli, garlic, white pizza. I must admit i ate the topoimgs off one slice, it was heaven, but i was also very full. I am only 6 weeks out but cheese, chicken, and broccoli are all allowed on my plan.

Protein rich foods take longer to digest.. slider foods go right through. I'm only 3-4 weeks out and I could drink a gallon of smoothie if I wanted, whereas I can barely take like 2 home made meatballs and I'm almost stuffed to the point of being sick, and feeling that way for the next hour. Restriction is not the same for all types of foods.

I love cauliflower pizza. Just bit of a hint. Get a cheese cloth and squeeze the living crap out of it. You want as much Water out of it as you can. When you put in the oven flip the crust around I did it 3 or four times. Then you can load it up with what you want on it and throw it back in to melt or freeze the crust for another day.

I was agreeing with the poster about getting therapy. This person suggested it. I know from personal experience that therapy helped me.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
