Newme17 3,444 Posted May 13, 2017 Everyone is different. I don't think there's a general guide for it either. So, do your best! The weight will go down.

AK_Bookworm 116 Posted May 13, 2017 What is the typical amount of lbs I can expect to lose during my one week pre-op liquid diet? Don't go in expecting to lose a lot... based off what everyone said they lost I expected to lose at least 15-20lbs and it really is coming off really slow during preop... I have been on it for 18 days (I decided to start a week and a half earlier to give myself time to adjust before I really had to start) and I've only lost 10.8lbs. I was very sad at first and felt like something was wrong with me because I wasn't losing nearly as much as what others had I've changed my mindset and I'm going with the flow but I have to admit I'm worried that with my little loss my liver won't be small enough. Just focus on sticking to it and remember the goal is to shrink your liver not to lose weight (look at the weight loss as a bonus). 2 Simply_Divine and RedOrangeSunrise reacted to this
LittleM 10 Posted May 13, 2017 I've been on my pre-op diet for 5 days now and have only lost 1 pound. My pre-op diet is nasty Medifast packets (shakes, Soups and such) and my calories have not exceeded 700 per day. It's frustrating to be so hungry and only see the scale move one pound. Truthfully, I was expecting to lose more by now but I guess it's still early (surgery is May 22). The hardest part for me is that I now don't look forward to mealtime because these packets are so terrible!

Bandy2sleeve 40 Posted May 14, 2017 I'm on day 4 of a two week pre-op Optifast diet. Only good thing is I have already lost 2.5kgs I find it easy during the day but unbearable at night when my family are eating :-(
Irish_Eyes 22 Posted May 15, 2017 (edited) After 7 days on the Pre-op diet I have lost 10.4 lbs. My husband who supports my decision is doing all the cooking for the family. I just concentrate on me when it comes to the food. I am drinking 1 Bariatric Advantage shake at Breakfast, and one at lunch. Then I have 3oz of lean Protein (deli turkey, eggs, chicken breast, salmon), plus veggies, or salad with a miniscule amount of dressing. Some days I even add a baby bell. I am completely satisfied with my meals at this point. Drinking lots of water!! First 3 days had headaches, but those are over now. I even cooked mothers day and my husbands dinner for family last night and it didn't bother me that I couldn't eat the potatoes/ rolls or home canned green Beans (salt). For dessert I bought 7 cupcakes, none for me. I didn't want any cake sitting around, but really I haven't been tempted to try anything other than what I am doing. One week to surgery!
