Thanks! Yes, I'm a little surprised at how good I feel! I am sore but not too bad, really -- certainly not as bad as I expected. But then I took the advice of some sage poster on this board: Expect the worst and hope for the best! :)

I hope everything goes well for you, too!

Wonderful Longhorn! I was thinking about you today! I can't believe you got to go home the same day! I have to stay over night and get to leave the next day after 3:00pm. My husband went out and bought me a recliner and put it in the bedroom next to his side of the bed. He said he wants to make sure I am right next to him. He's so sweet! We do everything together, our 30th anniversary is in Jan! He wanted to go away but I want to wait until I lose some of this weight!

Anyway I am SOOOOO glad to hear you are doing well! Are you on clear fluids? Keep in touch! And keep feeling GREAT! I really needed to hear some good stuff. Getting close and I am getting very nervous. So thanks for the great news!

Ann: We had our 31st in March! So much in common! Sounds like you've got a winner, just as I did!

I have to admit that I'm glad I'm home because the few times I've been in a hospital, I never rested very well. And my five dogs would miss me. :)

Longhorn ok this is just getting crazy! I have 5 dogs too! Actually 7 live here 2 of them belong to our daughter.

I would LOVE to come home the same day! I can't stand the thought of not being home with my hubby and "babies". We have 2 mini pins 2 mini dachshunds and 1 English Mastiff. My daughters 2 are also Mini Dachshunds. We flew last Feb to San Antonio to pick up our new baby Dachshund. I am worried about how to keep them from jumping on my belly when I am sitting down. The two dachsunds also sleep with us :)

I'm really anal - I cleaned it up a bit and put Cherlita as being only on the 27th (that was her stated date). Good luck to everybody! It's getting so close! I'm excited!

The two dachsunds also sleep with us :)

Ann: We used to have a dachshund but he was far from mini! He weighed 23 pounds when we found out he had a thyroid problem.

We currently have, from oldest to youngest: Paco, a female black lab mix, 50 pounds, 10 years old; Buddy, a male white lab mix, 75 pounds, 8 years old; Sparky, a male Rhodesian Ridgeback, 110 pounds, 7 years old; Corky, a male poodle mix, 18 pounds, 2 years old; and Chase, a male German Shepherd mix, 80 pounds, 2 years old.

Every one of these dogs was some sort of rescue or "pity adoption." ;)

I've been keeping my pillow on my tummy (in the recliner) and when Corky jumps up on it, I don't even feel it. The other dogs don't usually try to climb on my lap but we have a baby gate at the top of the stairs to keep them away, when necessary.

Too bad you're so far away! But for now, I guess we'll have to be virtual buddies!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
