Stopped losing after the first week ....

Recommended Posts

Stalls are common and happen frequently. Talk to your doctor if you're concerned, but I stalled after a week as well and stayed that way until about 3 weeks out. My Weightloss tends to happen in intervals, like I'll be stuck at the same weight FOREVER then I suddenly lose 10lbs in two weeks

I lost 20 lbs during the pre-op diet, but haven't lost a single lb after that. Was sleeved on 5/9, today is 5/15. I know it's only been 6 days, but I'm disappointed that I haven't even dropped a pound. I'm following post-op perfectly, only Protein Powder, Water and 2 ozs of creamy chicken Soup now & then, plus a Protein Shake now & then. Getting 300-500 calories per day, and 50-80 grams of Protein per day. What gives?

A week out from surgery the scale wasnt moving for me because I was still getting rid of excess Fluid and gas from surgery...most of my pants didn't fit!! Remember they pump you full of salt water in the hospital. Not sure how you're feeling but it was 3 weeks before the bloating went away for me.

I also had surgery on 5/9. Morning of surgery at hospital I weighed 228, once I was discharged home the next evening, I weighed in at 234.6...I was up 6.6 lbs! I currently weigh 226.4 lbs as of this morning. So I have lost 8.2 lbs, but 6.6 lbs were from hospital fluids. So actually I've lost 1.6 lbs! HA :) So my body has been through a lots in 6 days! Hang in there and we will start sending results soon, I hope! :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
