I'm curious too. He's running a really crazy self pay special right now that I have been considering.

I've heard Dr Taggar speak at Dr Wizman's support group. Dr Wizman did my surgery last year. Dr Taggar seems very intelligent and has no problem stating when he has a different opinion from Dr Wizman. He also doesn't seem to have the same...ummm...opinion of himself that Dr Wizman has of Dr Wizman. [emoji12]

However, I don't know which patients at the groups have had Dr Taggar. If you can do it, I strongly suggest attending the monthly support groups and nutrition lectures that they offer. I did it for 6 months before my surgery and the information I gleaned from attending was invaluable to my success.

Good luck with your decision. I think you'd do well with either surgeon.

One more thing. The practice is incredibly busy. You will have to stay on top of them to get what you need. You may not have as hard of a time if you do self-pay, but they're not always the most responsive pre-op. But again, maybe now that Dr Taggar is there things have gotten better.

I was sleeved with Dr. Wizman, whom I love. I met Dr. Tagger at the hospital when he stopped in to check on me. He was very nice. I did meet a couple of his patients who were pre-op and spoke well about him. I was also told by someone who works at the hospital, that Dr. Tagger's patients love him. Not sure how much this helps you. I do agree with mlbdl that the office is super busy and you have to stay on top of them 100% of the time. That part was the only non-favorable aspect of my experience with their office.

I was able to an initial appointment pretty quickly and truthfully I don't want to do he surgery for another few months, but I wanted to lock in the discounted price. I guess if it's a busy practice that's a good sign. Thank you

Hi! I'm 4 weeks post-op with Dr. Tagger. Down just about 20 lbs. I had a great experience with him and his staff. They are busy but they responded fairly quickly to me and the staff at the hospital was amazing. I almost went to Mexico and so glad I found him. I highly recommend him! Good luck!

Hi Tosleeve - great name...

I live in San Diego - just found this site. It sounds like we're on a similar mission. However - I'm looking for a conversion from a lap band to a sleeve surgery. That being said, I know two people who traveled from San Diego to Dallas for the procedure.

Arrived Wed for pre-op appt, Thurs to fill prescriptions (pain killers they couldn't fill in advance) and run errands/prep, Surgery on Friday - then follow up appt Monday AM and flew back Monday afternoon. Both claimed it wasn't a problem. They had someone go with them and didn't feel awesome, but both said it wasn't a problem. I will be doing the same -

I'm low BMI, but not as low as I'd like and still qualify for the surgery but will be cash pay. Its super expensive in San Diego. Thanks for your list, I'm going to look into Vegas.

Let me know if I can help - if I find anything out - I'll post

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
