FitFLTeacher 1 Posted May 11, 2017 My journey has been quicker than most. I made the decision to have sleeve surgery about a month ago. Then I found out that my insurance clearly excludes bariatric surgery. I was devistated, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Because I am self pay, I can have surgery sooner! As a teacher, the summers are really the only time I can have major surgery. Is anyone scheduled for June?? sassperillo 6 Posted May 14, 2017 Hi! My surgery is scheduled for June 9th - I am also self- paying although I will be traveling to Mexico for surgery. This has been a fast process for me too. Where do you live? How old are you? 2 FitFLTeacher and XmeghannstarX reacted to this
Beth373 4 Posted May 15, 2017 My husband had the sleeve last year in June (2016) and I think I will be having mine the last week of June. I am also a teacher. I started the process in August. I meet with the surgeon on friday to do the final step. I think then they submit the final request to my insurance after this last meeting.

I'm so excited, and a little scared, but I know this is the right thing for me [emoji1] Sent from my SM-G900T3 using BariatricPal mobile app

I work for a charter school and was super bummed when I found out my insurance excluded bariatric surgery. Luckily, I found a fantastic surgeon that I could afford. Good luck! Hope you can get sleeved this summer. What do you teach?Sent from my SM-G900T3 using BariatricPal mobile app
