Starting stage 3 soft foods... looking for slow cooker recipes

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm starting stage 3 on Saturday. I decided to buy a slow cooker. I want my introduction back to real food to not be boring! Does anyone have any healthy recipes for the slow cooker they want to share? I'm allergic to seafood, but would love some ideas. Thanks.

Did you already get a slow cooker? If not- go for an Instant Pot instead. It has a pressure cooker feature that is fabulous and you can make your own yogurt! Do a google search on Instant Pot recipes. There are a lot!

I did buy one, but it's from Amazon. It can get returned! Thanks for the info. I'll go look.

My hubby surprised me w/ an Instant Pot 1 week after VSG. I just started puréed foods yesterday. I made crack chicken w/ 1/2 cream cheese & 1/2 Greek yogurt. Today I made made a mojo pork loin (mine puréed) and served it w/ mashed cauliflower & canned spinach. It is so nice to put ingredients in and go walk or do Zumba and come home w/ dinner done an hour later. I would also be interested in more Instant Pot recipes. I am hoping to get an IP cookbook for Mother's Day.

Instant pot is awesome. I had never heard of it until you posted. I'm amazed by all the things you can do with it. Made a simple meatloaf tonight and it was juicy and soft. I didn't even open the slow cooker box. It's going back. Thanks!

Check Pinterest, just type in healthy crock pot recipes, you'll find tons to go through.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
