I will check it out, much obliged!

I think my story could be interesting for you to read.

I don not "regret" surgery. I am glad I did it and have had great success. But it came at a huge cost for me. You can read about my journey in my posts.

In my case my decision to have WLS discovered an issue that could have harmed me down the road so I consider it a blessing. I had my gallbladder removed in an emergency operation in 2014. The numbnuts doctor not only messed that up but turns out when he packed my abdomen( my gallbladder ruptured ) he packed it so tightly that in the ensuing 2 years my stomach and liver had grown together. That was only found during WLS. My surgery took an extra hour, introduced a lit of additional air into my abdomen and caused me days of nausea. I'm grateful it was discovered.

I'm three weeks out and I have no regrets. The first few day were rough but I never had any regrets. Each day is a challenge, but no more than being on a diet without the WLS. I'm praying I don't have any complications, but at the same time I am thankful that soon I'll be off my two BP medicine. I'M thankful that my hip doesn't hurt anymore, I'm thankful that I finally sleep like a baby. I have so much to be thankful for. Just know each day is a challenge and you just have to embrace the good and bad.

That has been my biggest "fear" I have been looking into wls for the past 4 years & what I always heard was you will have complications BUT why live afraid of a complication? I couldn't live another day suffering, rather take my risks :)

No, not at all. I'm 8 months out and still can't eat solid foods. Still on softs and Soups but I love the way I look. I started at 200lbs and I'm down to 130lbs. I don't think I'm getting enough Protein in but my labs are GREAT, hmmmm

My take is we are all very different. Some are compliant. Some not so much.
Some lose a lot. Others small amounts...
The commonality is we are trying to change some fundamental issues we individually have.
I don't see posters here as one or two types. I think there are varied audiences. Many hover and don't post
Some post every meal...
Gotta take the informative with the sometimes ignorant.

I am only 3 days out. I haven't eaten really in 6 days, and I really can't hold anything down. I am in terrible pain between the gas and the incisions. I have barely lost any weight so far, which is clearly because it's only been 3 days. But I'm regretting this big time. Why didn't I just do Weight watchers or something? I feel so miserable and definitely having remorse.

I'm so sorry you're going through this but maybe hang in there for a couple of days and see how it goes? From all that i've read it sounds like the first few days can be really tough. You'll drudge through this!

The success rate for people maintaining weight loss after dieting is only 5%. Not very good odds so the chance that you would have finally been successful with WW is not very likely.

Your post-op regret is normal and should dissipate as you start to recover and lose the IV Fluid added weight and then some. Be patient and know it'll improve in the coming days and weeks.

All the best!

I feel your pain. I'm three weeks out tomorrow and I wish I would have tried something else myself. The feeling of hunger is very minimum, but my cravings for real food have me counting down until I can eat some. My incision pain is no more, but I have a very painful bubble and I have to remember to drink all the time. Not to mention Water taste horrible. I hope I didn't make you feel worse, but was sharing my regrets. But on the real, we will be a lot healthier if we stay on the right plan. I wish you luck and hope you achieve your goals.

I have absolutely no regrets. I've lost nearly 200 pounds and have completely changed my relationship with food. Life is great!

Sorry about that. One tends to forget the immediate post op cravings for solid food. Those cravings will soon be satiated.
I never regretted my sleeve, but I had to embrace it. I used to get angry cos I missed the feeling of gulping down water. I also had to deal with changing tastes and food preferences.
No regrets, but adjustment isn't always easy. The weightloss and improved health makes one soon forget about all these "initial blues"..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
