Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled for VSG on May 24th. I have childcare sorted for my 7 year old daughter now which is a huge relief..BUT I am going to be completely on my own and I'm so scared

I meant sleevers but the app won't let me change the title

Hahaha, was wondering about that. In my head was thinking there are a few single mums I'd like to 'sleep' with.

Seriously though, do you have any close friends that can be around for you after surgery, even if it is for the first couple days? I know there are people on here who have done fine by themselves.

I am having mine done on May 25th, same day as my sister!
So we are going alone. Not worried, as you can ask for help, if needed.

Near London, UK

I think you should find a support group because you will need some sort of support. Get plenty of rest :)

TY! Its more preventative measures than just to be skinny for us. Our maternal grandmother passed away at 45, then our mom had hypertension and weight induced type II diabetes when she passed away at 62.
So, we if are literally going to be around for our (future) grandkids and even be able to play with my little ones now - we both have to do something to assist us with being healthy - NOW!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
