Hi,
I am so curious to know why so many sleevers pre-op and post-op so different? There are times during pre-op when I wanted to ask questions and vent at how miserable I was during my 3-day clear liquid, all while a lot of you guys were suffering through it for 2 weeks, I just stood quiet. LOL!
Now, tomorrow I make 7 days post-op and I can begin my puree stage, some people need to wait almost 3 weeks for this. Of course I start to overthink and worry myself like "Should I even try to eat eggs tomorrow?" "What if I'm not fully healed yet?" Honestly, I feel great. No pain whatsoever. Just sore at the incision sites. I am meeting my Protein goals so far.
Here are my dietary guidelines:

Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

hi. Everyone is different. During my purée stage I didn't try eggs until 3 months out. I enjoyed making chicken and Beans and puréed them with homemade chicken broth for about 2 weeks . I also made a lot of homemade chili with ground turkey and a few different beans to get my protein in. IMG_8234.JPG

I see other commonalities:
Protein first (forever) 60-80-100 grams, no liquids with meals, then vegetables

Not mine, we're to aim for at least 30g of protein and don't need to eat it first. No carb restriction either. In fact, my PA asked me to drink Gatorade in week 4!True for me about the no drinking with meals though.

Me too!! Except, for me it was the post-op diet that I kept a low profile about.

I was allowed to go straight to mushy food right out of the hospital. (don't get me wrong, it was not a free for all. there were a lot of rules, but he was of the opinion that the sleeve can handle very soft foods like scrambled eggs right away).

BUT...the surgeon and the Nut are a united front on no starches until maintenance, which is stricter than most. so, I guess you win some, you lose some.

The SF gatorade or the 40+g of sugar per serving gatorade?

I had to go to a 6 week class on diet and such. Before even able to see the surgeon. And the classes were led by a dietitian. I had a week clears started a full liquid yesterday (which does include pudding and mashed potatoes and cream soups) the after a week I start soft and moist for 3 weeks then on 7th week post op it's solid food from there on out. At 6 months I can start adding in salads and raw veggies. Til then the have to be cooked some how. Every program is different. Not told no carbs but they do say rice, bread and a few others expand in stomach and can cause pain but this was taught for both surgeries and the diet is the same for both. I had rny instead of the sleeve. Good luck everyone. And may you journey be a great one

What are considered starches?

Yep, regular sugar Gatorade. I was feeling weak and nauseated all the time and she said I needed sugar. It actually worked! Only drank it for a couple weeks per orders though.

Yeah pretty much majority of patients I see on here are on full liquids for two weeks. I was only one week full liquids, 3 weeks puree and now i'm on soft solid foods introducing things little by little. I can finally eat a salad. (Never thought I'd say that LOL)

Btw, tuna hates me. :(

Mine was very similar. Clear Liquids in the hospital and then 1 week full liquids once home. 2 weeks pureed and then 4 weeks of soft solids. I started regular solids at 8 weeks.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
