My surgeon prescribed me prilosec and gallstone avoidance medicine after surgery and I took it regularly until my 2 week appointment when I told him I hated taking it because of the taste in the applesauce. He told me I could stop taking it until I could swallow the whole capsule and I did so. I don't notice any issues with reflux on the days I don't take the prilosec and I'm wondering if any of you have stopped taking it early due to this reason? Does everyone take Prilosec after surgery for 3 months?

I'm 2.5 years past surgery & still have one Omeprazole in the morning & another just before bed. Then again, I probably consume a higher-acid diet than most. That's just me. Good luck!

I wish I was prescribed something for the gallbladder! I know I will likely need mines removed, ugh.

Ask for an option you should be able to take whole like Pantoprazole (in Canada brand name is Pantoloc). Like others I have a 6 month prescription for this.

For the last several years I've usually taken a prescribed Prevacid generic (Lansoprazole), but it's also capsule (thus time release), I was able to take the Pantoloc whole immediately after discharge with no issues.

To the post above that says they take nothing, not everyone needs a PPI. It all depends on how your body handles the surgery.

I wanted to limit how many pills and Vitamins I was taking and at my 2 week post op I told my dr that I don't feel I need to take it anymore she said to continue to take it for two more weeks and then I can if I'm comfortable to go ahead and discontinue it. And I'm 3 months Post op now and don't have any issues and I'm glad I didn't continue taking them. I never needed them to begin with but I was just following protocol.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
