heidiwawasee 2 Posted May 9, 2017 Good evening,I am having a horrible time losing the required pre-op weight. I have changed my diet/eating habits tremendously.. I just feel at a loss! The nurse practitioner suggested the liver reducing diet... Open to suggestions!
KJencius 21 Posted May 9, 2017 I can sympathize. I had the same problem. My surgery was held up because my insurance didn't feel I put in enough time and energy into losing the weight. I was required to lose 10 lbs to show them I was serious. I took my time, I drank Protein Shakes, walked a bit more and kept going for weight checks until I got there. Don't give yourself a timeline. It will drive you crazy.Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 heidiwawasee reacted to this

Are you tracking your food at all? I'd recommend taking your carbs to 20 or less, cutting your calories to 1200-1500 (I have no idea what your current size is to know if that range is appropriate, but I weighed 400 pounds when I started and I was at those calorie-levels for months pre-op.), and journaling everything you eat and drink every day. Good luck!

heidiwawasee 2 Posted May 10, 2017 @blizair09 I eat a variety of foods every day. Lots of Protein. I couldn't exactly tell you how many calories I'm taking in.. I do use MyFitnessPal but I could log every time I eat. I weigh 249. This is my highest weight.Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
KJencius 21 Posted May 10, 2017 Good luck. You will be in my thoughts. You will do it. Some people lose it faster than others. My problem was moving around. With a pinched nerve, 2 bulging discs, torn meniscus in both knees with severe arthritis, I was sedentary a lot. I think that was my problem. You will get there. Just eliminate the timeline.Sent from my LG-D851 using BariatricPal mobile app
kerryd.away 8 Posted May 10, 2017 I was in the same boat until I basically followed a modified " 14-day pre-surgery diet". shake, shake and sensible dinner. I had v8, fruit or raw veggies w/hummus if I felt too hungry between meals. This helped me lose over 30lbs before surgery. Good luck, keep working at it! 1 heidiwawasee reacted to this
