I had Robotic Gastric By-pass & healed pretty fast. I went home the next day after the surgery. After few days had bowel movement.

i had a hard time eating & drinking the requirement intake. The first 3 months were difficult for me. Eating, exercise & mental state took this time to adjust. It was weird, at 3 1/2 months it was like a light bulb went off, everything started working together!! You'll do great Nana!

It was about 2-3 weeks not long! Start walking immediately, at first just walk up & down your driveway a few times a day, every week walk a litter further, it really helps!

I was DC'd from hospital on day 2 d/t nausea. Once home, I was fine. Incisional pain the worst on right lower quadrant. On day 6, I could finally tolerate it well enough to move on to Tylenol. I needed a little help with stool softners and Miralax, and Day 6 it happened! Guess this was a turning point for me on a few things. Everyone heals differently! Keep walking, drinking, resting and stay the course. All will work out! Good Luck to all....

Is the pain diminishing?? Try & get off pain pills s soon as you can. They will delay your bowel movements!! Are you able to drink your shakes? Feel better & Happy Mothers' Day🌸🌺🌷🥀

Hope your pain gets better soon! Maybe try a ice pack to stomach, put it in pillow case or something. It just helps to numb pain and helps with swelling. This too shall pass!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
