Joann454 1,329 Posted May 9, 2017 I was just curious if anyone was on medication for these issues and now no longer has to take them. I'm on atenolol 12.5-prevastatin 20 and while I'm not on medication for diabetes, I was headed that way (pre diabetic).
Redmaxx 740 Posted May 9, 2017 Off the BP meds, the cholesterol meds and went from 1500 mg Metformin with two types of insulin to 500 mg Metformin. I am hoping the Metformin will be a thing of the past when my next blood work is done.

Redmaxx 740 Posted May 9, 2017 Sure. Based off my BMI alone I was not eligible for WLS. The cholesterol, high BP, diabetes and sleep apnea is what put it over the top. I am currently down 95.3 pounds. I am almost 5 pounds under my surgeon's goal weight.
GrrlAnn 177 Posted May 9, 2017 I can't speak from personal experience but I can talk about my father'sexperience with gastric bypass. He was taking tons of insulin for his type 2 diabetes in addition to cholesterol and BP medicine. He is 5+ years postop. He had kept off over 100 lbs and takes NO medication! I'm not saying his results are what you will experience but it had truly been a miracle for him. My mom swears the surgery saved his life.Sent from my XT1585 using BariatricPal mobile app

ryan_86 335 Posted May 9, 2017 I was never on diabetes meds.I take a blood pressure med for headaches but had to scale back the dose because my pressure was getting too low.I have good lipid numbers for the first time since high school, but they're not great. I'll probably be stuck on the statin forever thanks to my genetics.
