Last week I was at my 6 week post op appointment with my NUT. I'm now cleared to eat everything, but I was cleared to eat a lot by day 4.

I got no kcal guideline, no really macro guideline. My Protein since surgery has been 60g.

From now on, I should slowly move from 6 to 3 meals from what I understood, and all meals should include protein, veggies and complex carbs. She wants me to eat bread to cold meals, and a medium potato to warm meals.

Oh, and my protein should be about 50%, that's it....that's all the guideline I got.

I don't see how I can be successful with this. My body is not happy with carbs, it's what got me overweight (by overeating them of course) to begin with. It what triggered me to eat more.

I don't see my surgeon until September.

I am 8weeks out and my nut just added back fruits and veggie
And while grains.
She said to stay away from doughy bread, steak, rice, nuts and seeds and popcorn still.
As far as Protein - I'm up to 90-130grams a day and fluids up there too - 64+
I feel the same way about carbs but she explained if I eat the healthy (whole, unprocessed grains or veggie/fruit) for carbs - they won't affect me the same as "bad" carbs.
She also told me to always focus on protein first and add the other stuff very slowly back into my diet.
Not sure if any of that helps you !?!? [emoji1]

Hmmm. The word "carbs" is very confusing. Don't always think that it means bread. Complex carbs can be some veggies and can be fruit, too. So, do a google search on complex carbs. BUt here is one guideline that I was given. I think eventually the Protein count goes up to 130. And the rule is always protein first!!

Also, look up this web site for really great information: theworldaccordingtoeggface.com

She means bread, grains, Pasta. Veggies has been included since day 4. I asked her about stew, meat was protein, carrots veggies, and potatoes complex carbs. If I have yogurt, then berries for fruit and a slice of bread. Or a slice of bread with cheese and cucumber. That is what she wants me to eat.

all plans are different - some are ultra-low-carb, some are moderately low carb (mine was one of the latter). However, most successful people I know rarely if ever eat things like bread, potatoes, or Pasta. Some people are really carb-sensitive, others not so much. If you're really carb sensitive, I'd personally stay away from that stuff.

I eat bread, but very thin slices, in fact, my husband has to cut them, and they are small and I might eat them once a week because I become constipated even with Miralax daily., same with rice.

Just become a label reader. Processed and GMOs are the kinds of carbs you might be fearful of. Dave's Killer Bread is a great brand I recommend it (in moderation). As far as grains: old fashioned oats, brown rice, quinoa, barley & millet. I recommend organic if you can afford it, but store brand is just as helpful. There are lots of great pasta options! I've seen red lentil pasta, brown rice noodles, and things like that. Watch the calories from fat and sodium levels. Trial and error. Don't be scared!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
