Hello everyone

Just thought i would come on here i say hello to everyone and give myself the chance of telling you a little about my story.

So it begins in childhood i was always fat i was bullied all through school because of it and its left me with mental health issues now as adult.

i had my first brake down when i was 14 then again at 19 then again a few years ago because of my weight i was severely depressed when i first heard about weight loss surgery i knew straight away for me finally after a lot of coming and going on 16th of sept 2016 i had my surgery in England (im Scottish) Dolan park hospital to be exact. I cried my heart out after i had had the surgery i got home a few days later and everything i;d been holding in all these years came flooding out i'd never felt such relief in my life i knew now that my past could truely be put in the past after years of yo -yo dieting i'd had enough now 7 months on i could use the support of other people in the same place as me because a part from one other person i know of im the only one who i know whos had a band and it can very lonely.

If you have anything you want to ask me please feel free to do so.

Thanks for reading

Mal

hi Mal welcome . You will be so happy that you made the decision to change your life. at age 66 after many years of being overweight I had health challenges that I needed to fix. Being obese was shortening my life. I also felt I needed to look better as well. Not knowing that my life was going to take a hard turn. My husband of 39 years passed away 2 years ago and thankfully I was healthy enough to care for him in his last years. I am also short 5 ft. 0 .. I was about 200 lbs when I had my surgery in 2013. I cannot explain to you how awesome it feels to be a normal size and be healthy . It is not the easiest thing to do so don't let other people tell you it's the easy way out. You have to comply with the rules and don't expect big losses every week. stay on the forum and ask questions. There are a lot of veterans here who can help you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
