@Apple1 You have a garden? I'M SO JEALOUS! I would love to learn how to garden. We have the space, but we also have two very large dogs that would try to get in to it, unless I build a really nice fence around it. I'm also concerned with the heat down here, it's so blistering hot all the time, so I'd have to learn what works here and doesn't. We shall see....maybe a goal of mine in the near future. NOW, I REALLY WISH WE WERE NEIGHBORS! Ha! :)

Yesterday I was sluggish. I'm equating it to the lack of liquids. I didn't really focus. So, I went to bed early, slept for about 8 hours. I'm finishing up my bottle of Water now. Got to get that first one in, before I start my coffee. My kid's last day of school was yesterday, so I'm happy about not having to get them up and ready for a couple of weeks until camp. Now, it's time for me to start getting ready for work.

Oh, I flexed my arms yesterday, I was happy to see my muscle doesn't look like it's too far gone. Can't wait to get back to the gym. :) LOL

Ya'll have a beautiful and blessed day!

My house is crazy this morning. Getting a new roof installed. I can't believe we have been in our house long enough to need a new roof...lol 25 years. So I am leaving for a little while gonna hit the grocery store.

I also have chickens in my back yard ..lol I love fresh eggs, but commercial eggs are just gross once you have eaten a truly good egg from a free range chicken.

I use containers for my garden and I have a couple raised beds. I have to protect mine from the chickens 🐔 they love veggies too. I'll post some photos later of last years garden. I haven't planted anything yet this year so I may just do tomatoes and squash.

Doesn't it feel nice to have a new roof? I love it. Your house is like three times as big as mine. Haha!!! You have more to clean than me. 😂 beautiful area, trees, lawn is pretty. I've still got to do a rock bed garden in our front, but it's work in progress, as always. Enjoy your roof!

It does, but it was a necessity, we were hoping the old one would last a few more years, but we had a bad leak and couldn't wait. We raised our children in this house and it is way bigger than the 2 of us need now, but there are too many memories here so we will probably stay forever..lol..

ok, I looked and found some photos of my garden from last year and before. Looking at these makes me sad that I did not get anything planted this year thus far. But next year it will be great. I included a couple before planting and you can see my nosy chickens inspecting..lol..

You are gorgeous!
I changed to plant based, non dairy, before surgery, EXCEPT the cheese! (Got to have cheese). I don't care for yogurt and cottage cheese, even though I'm adding them now, cause they're just easier at this point. But once I get to full foods, I'm back to mostly plant based. We do eat chicken/shrimp/fish though too.
Blessings on your alternative journey hon. You can do it!

Thank you! I also said the same thing about cheese... i will change anything! ... except the cheese that's one part of me i will hold on too . I'm sacrificing alot more for a healthy life. I also dont care about yogurt so i'm not going to include it in my diet at all... i prefer to save those calories for cheese when i'm able to eat it. When you say plant based.. what exactly did you buy that's plant based?

I am like you two, nothing is coming between me and my cheese..lol.. I have started buying more organic foods and very little processed. Growing and raising what I can in my little backyard. Here is a photo showing the difference between store bought eggs and my chickens eggs, there is no comparison

I haven't bought much plant based during the pre and post op diets. I prefer a plant Protein over whey protein, but my nut told me to use whey during this time. Some reason behind it which I forgot. I use almond Creamer for my coffee instead of dairy. My husband and I both agreed to incorporate a plant based diet, LOTS and LOTS of veggies and whole grains as a way of eating. (Just need to get the kiddos on board). We won't sacrifice chicken, fish, or shrimp though NOR the cheese. LOL

I had found that my digestive system just works better doing mostly plant based foods. And you can't go wrong with healthy food. :)

Actually you can, but given portion sizes and how it's cooked, you shouldn't.

I'm assuming the darker eggs are from your chickens?

Yes. The yolks from my chickens are orange and the whites are thick. Very tasty.

I like that you are focusing on making your diet overall more healthy. That is my ultimate goal also. My dh has agreed to eat whatever I serve him. I thought it would be hard for him to give up rice, but he has done well. I use riced cauliflower instead and it works well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
