@sleever123

You are claiming to be unhappy about your weight loss. If you want help. Tell us what you are eating so we can offer suggestions. I don't care you aren't eating meat but that doesn't mean you can toast and lose weight. There are other sources of Protein. You didn't say you were vegetarian or vegan, you just said you don't like meat. So can you eat eggs? cheese? What can and do you eat?

@SassyNanny

Basically she wasted everyone who even read her original post by whining in the first post about slow weight loss. Then came back to just complain about everyone not patting her on the head and telling her it was okay. Then still didn't even answer any questions about what she is eating.

This is why people don't respond to posts or try to help people. This kind of entitled BS.

Yeah I'm aware everyone of protein- thanks. As unmentioned I don't eat a lot of meat so was looking for options and ideas. Thank you for your opinions I was looking for more support as this is hard and maybe it's easier for you meat eaters and hearing what I shouldn't do isn't helping right now. It's very frustrated the limitation of what I can eat and trying to switch it up. Again- thanks for those supportive opinions. I'll wait to speak to my doctor.

Have you tried GARDEIN meatless beef chicken & fish? I love that stuff & the plant based Protein is as good or better than meat. It's also vegan! They have it at Target for $3.99 a package here & they have anywhere from 2 to 5 servings.

@sleever123 - I second the Gardein recommendation. Also, Boca has a good vegan burger with 17 grams of protein. And, of course protein powders/pre-made drinks. Vega, Orgain, Sun Warrior, and Garden of Life are all plant-based and contain great anounts of protein. My Super-Target has a good selection of these (& other branfs, too). I also recently discovered a new pre-made plant-based protein drink called Evolve. Low/no-fat, low sugar, high protein.

Lastly, regarding matters surrounding a plant-based diet, I would highly recommend you follow Dr. Garth Davis & read his book, "Proteinaholic". Also, the plant-based bariatric Facebook groups below are very supportive.

I also use Orgain & Garden of Life protein powder. I'm vegan & all plant based/vegans have plenty of protein options. You don't have to have animal protein to survive & it's also easier for women who require less protein in their diet than men.

Vegan here, too. My surgeon & nutritionist recommend 60 grams of protein per day, which is totally doable long-term.

If you dislike meats, non-meat sources of Protein include:

1. Black Beans

2. Flat-Out flatbread (9 grams of protein)

3. Peas

4. Quinoa

5. Hummus

6. Nuts

If you ask for help and experienced sleevers take time out of their day to offer it don't get snarky at them for not "being supportive". This is what support looks like. They asked specific questions to ascertain what your idea of a meal plan looks like.
Are you logging every bite you take faithfully? I use SparkPeople.com daily and I'm 18 months out and 120 pounds gone at 66.
Are you walking?
Are you drinking a Protein Drink like Premier Protein from costco with 30g of Protein?
How many calories a day are you ingesting?
How many grams of protein are you getting daily?
Are you drinking all your Water daily?
What does your Dr recommend?

Just had some Gardein plant based chicken with stir fry veggies & a little teriyaki sauce. Over 20 grams of Protein less than 10 grams of carbs & around 200 calories. Delicious!!

And why is it you refuse to tell anyone what you are eating daily? you repeat the same thing and give no information back when people are trying to help.

Posted this once before but here it is again.

Are you eating hearty foods with little to no sauce or broth? Are you drinking Water with your meals? You're not supposed to drink before or after your meals. Are you taking 20 minutes to eat each meal? Are you following the 2-3-2 rule? Are you drinking liquid calories or snacking between meals?

I don't want to hy-jack the conversation but quick question. How soon after surgery did you all start yo eat meat. I'm a month out and I'm moving into soft foods and still on shakes for the Protein. I'm a big steak and chicken kind of girl. Do whens it safe to start say a pot roast slow cooked so veggies are soft and meat falls apart with ease let. I'd love to start adding more protein than just the shakes and drinks.( I don't do fish. To many allergy. )

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
