I second that, please talk with your nut asap. the nut will adjust your diet. Maybe ask if you can have a snack pack of raw carrots to carry with you daily, when you need your blood sugar to go back up.

im on my pre-op, but not all liquids. Every surgeon is different but I'm quite sure some carrots or something else won't have a negative impact on you surgery coming up.

Have you spoken with your endocrinologist? I had to adjust my insulin a bit during the pre-op diet to avoid lows. When I did get low I took glucose tabs, which my bariatric Dr approved. The liquid diet sucks super bad. I had to make a list of things I hated about being fat and refer to it often when I felt weak. It helped me get through. Good luck!

I'm on day 4 of the pre-op diet and I totally hear you. It's going mostly okay, but there are moments where I wish I could just eat something besides a carrot and celery! The plain broth helps and remembering why I'm doing this also helps.

Good luck to you!

May 16th here as well. In the middle of my Pre-Op liquid diet. It's a struggle but surprisingly I'm hanging in there. I just keep a big cup of crystal light beside me all day and drink constantly.

I'm allowed lo-carb vegetables so I googled it to know which vegetables fit the bill and came up with a salad of beet/artichoke hearts/cucumber/onion/fat free Caesar Salad Dressing. It absolutely helps with the hunger. It's delicious.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
