So after 7 long months I went for my final clearance today from my PCP and he wouldn't clear me because my white cell count was high....I feel fine...I don't have a cold, no sore throat nothing. He re did the blood test and now to wait until Monday for results.

I am so upset. My surgery is scheduled for May 15 and I've done everything I just feel defeated right now.

Why didn't he give you an antibiotic so you can have surgery?

I had a bit of an infection showing in my blood work as well, i think i know what its from. But my doctor slapped me right on antibiotics last week and i'm still scheduled. I also wonder why he did not just give u some antibiotics? I hope it goes down so u can still have surgery. I will be praying 4 u.

And that's why they didn't put you on antibiotics! I'm glad your follow up labs were good. Lots of stuff can cause a bump in a white count (even stress).

Indiscriminate antibiotic use has contributed to a rise in antibiotic resistant superbugs, so gone are the days are just tossing out antibiotics for anything and everything, especially if the patient is asymptomatic.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
