New March Bandster

Recommended Posts

mamakinks: Hi,[07:46 AM] mamakinks: This is my first visit to this site, I was banded in March 07, since my surgery I have many emotional set backs. My mom is in hospice care after a stroke in April, I lost my job and lost my 4 legged best friend suddenly. I am still trying to loose, but I am definitely at a stand still. I Jazzercise and think I am eating right, but I do not know exactly what diet to follow at this point. I am also experiencing a weird feeling when I eat, I can feel the air and the food meeting and until 1 moves it is quite painful. I am schedule for another fill ( I am not even 1/2 full yet) in a couple of weeks and am getting quite anxious about it because I am afraid I will not be able to eat anything. has anyone else experienced this? I need to get motivated again, I started at 228 and am now at 184 and holding.

HI Mamakinks,

How are you doing? I was banding in March 07 and I haven't had any success at all. I'm very frustrated. I had two fills and then I had some taken out because I couldn't keep anything down. I have found that I'm an emotional eater and I just plain like to eat. There are some foods I can't eat at all but I have found that I can eat around the band and that's not good!!!

I don't know what to do at this point. I don't really love my doctor that did the surgery and they won't let me switch. I don't want to go back to them at all. I'm really stuck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
