Hi all,

Seems everyone is getting after it. I'm being lazy, but I did hope on the stair stepper for about 20 seconds! HA. It is out in the barn with a serious layer of dust on it. I had to fill a Water tank for the horses, so I thought I'd jump on it. Maybe I will get the DH to help haul it into the house.

I'm doing good on my eating this week...no overeating or eating the wrong things so far. Just not craving anything in particular. My energy level is back up so I know the colds I've gone through have mostly left my system.

I haven't ordered my new bottle of pills but will get after it on the 15th. I have a few left but haven't been very good about taking them. I'd like to go full force over the holidays which in my mind hasn't really started. I do need to bake some christmas Cookies to send to my nephews (one is in the army) and my older brother...old tradition. But for the last few years, I've been able to do a day of baking and not eat at them.

I can remember in my earlier days, when I could not keep things in the house like Peanut Butter or crackers, choco chips, etc. At some point in time, I was able to get control of my gorging on those sort of things. Any of you have old issues like that that you overcame before the band?

Sula - I still battle with my binge eating. But I have gotten better. In my old days I would binge eat for months, now I just do it here & there and then I gain control.

My binge eating still needs to be worked on, and I work on it every day, but I still haven't been able to overcome it completely.

I am happy the band keeps me from going overboard. I'm happy with my progress with the band, and I feel so much better. I know it is going to take awhile to lose the last of my weight and I know exercise is the key for me. Knowing it and applying it is two different stories.

I did exercise yesterday and have plans to do it again at 3 today. So I am trying to get back into the full swing of things. Its hard, but I'm doing my best and forcing myself to at least put in 20 to 30 minutes a day.

I want to start another BFL challeng on 1/7/07, I just hope my knee can handle it. I'm working right now on building the strength back up so it can handle another challenge.

I can't believe we are about to be at 1 year with our band. A lot has changed this past year for me, my weight, my attitude, everything.

I hope everyone else is doing good. - Enterprise, you really do look good, your arms look wonderful!

Hi all!

I'm having a craptastic day. I barfed. It sucked.

I've been feeling pretty good the last few days with exercising again and eating fairly decently because of the metformin. Then I had to go ruin it by yakking up 3 bites of chicken and 2 bites of potato. I mean, can I catch a break here? I was actually thinking of asking for a small unfill because I've been barfing so much. THEN, I catch that post in the General forum about meal sizes. Well, let me just admit that I can still eat a hell of a lot more than 2 oz sometimes. Ummm... maybe that is my problem right there?

So, my question to you all is how much do you really eat at lunch and dinner? Breakfast is moot point for me since if I eat anything before noon it's just a granola bar or some yogurt.

I usually have a Protein Drink, oatmeal or scrambled eggs for breakfast. Oatmeal with Protein Powder and skim milk goes down easily. I have to be careful with eggs most of the time.

lunch, I can really put away a large salad. I had about 6-8 shrimp with a spinach salad yesterday. Last night was a taco salad...about the size of a salad plate.

Restriction fluctuates..some days I just have a bowl of Soup for lunch.

Question for you guys about fills and restriction. I'm pretty sure after the first of the year I will get another fill. I know I eat more than I should at times and the weightloss is very slow.

But, I periodically PB where I am at now. And I'm afraid to get to the point that Sunshine did with PB's and getting so swollen you have to take it all out.

BUT (you see my seesaw mind going here) is there a normal amount of PB's that you should expect with the proper restriction (perhaps the proper restriction phrase is the key here)? I read one time that a lady would PB once a day. If that is the case, then I thought you had to go to liquids or soft foods for about 24 hours? So then you're just on a liquid diet. I'm driving myself nutz here.

So, help me think this out and find a path...;)

Man, lately its been too much. I don't know what the heck is wrong with me. Having a hard time lately. TOM even came 10 days early!

Yesterday I ended up getting a dinner down at our cafeteria - 4 breaded chicken strips, a huge pile of french fries. I was starvin, but when I started eating, I was only able to eat 4 of french fries and 2 strips, then I was full. So I was happy I still have some restriction, but I was hungry again about 3 hours later.

I'm ready to get my fill and I still have 5 weeks to go! I hate that it takes so long to get into a fill.

I don't want to use it as an excuse to just eat, however, I'm really having a hard time right now. I just feel like crying all the time, I guess I'm going thru some type of depression or something, its just weird. I'm so emotional these days, and having TOM come early doesn't help.

Monday is my 19 year wedding anniversary, so DH bought me a beautiful rhinestone belt (Kippy belt) which I love, not sure if you guys know what a kippy belt is, but they are gorgeous and hard to find. Anyhow, he surprised me and bought me a new one with some new cole haan boots, So I should be happy. ;)

Anyhow, I guess I'm just depressed because I haven't lost weight in a long time, and I really wanted to get to 155 by my 1 year, and I know its not going to happen. I haven't been able to get below 167, keep bouncing from 167 to 172 the entire month.

I know I just gotta get a grip on myself and be committed and quit complaining and just do it.

Sula, here is what I think - according to Welcome to LAP-BAND.com. You should be full after eating 3 oz of food and not be hungry for 4 to 5 hours later. If you can eat more than 3 oz of food, (depending on how much more) then you probably need a fill. If you get hungry sooner, you probably need a fill.

As far as PB's, I don't think any amount is normal. I think if you PB alot you need to re-examine your eating pattern, how big are your bites, are they dime size or smaller, if not, maybe the bites are too big, 2nd, how fast do you eat, do you put your fork down between bites? If you are pbing a long, then sometimes the eating pattern should be examined.

For me, I am feeling like I need a fill because I rarely if any PB. Its happend 1 x, then the last fill was too tight so I PB'd on my own saliva, so I'm thining 3.8 was too lose, and 4.0 was too tight, maybe 3.9ccs will be just right?

I'm hoping the doc will fill me up to 3.8 1/2 or 3.9 when I go in, I'm going to talk to him about it. I wish I could get in sooner but can't get in until 1/18/07.

Sherilynn - I'm so sorry to hear about your boyfriend's father. How awful to lose him so suddenly, especially near the holidays like this. Things will be rough for a while, but I'm sure you'll help him through this.

Juno - Let us know how the metaformin works for you. My doctor almost put me on that about 2 years ago, but he never could get a definite diagnosis of PCOS. We did determine that my testosterone is really high, which is now being treating with spironolactone. It's helped tremendously.

I haven't checked in for a week or so because I'm recovering from my brachioplasty. Sunshine, I'm glad you found my thread on the brachioplasty. I'm having some god awful shooting pains tonight and don't want to take my darvocet until I'm finished working for the night. (I'm waiting for a program to finish running so I'm goofing off here in the meantime.)

Audree - Do you have new pics? If so, where are they? I'd love to see your progress. You're always such a positive influence around here.

The newest one I have is the one with the little top and workout pants. I will be adding some new ones after my weight training starts to show, maybe in a few months. But my body is really changing shape already!

Thanks for the encouragement!!!:clap2:

QuickSlim30 is out of stock and back ordered until after Dec. 30!:faint:

And I am out for myself!!

I am missing them, but maintaining and feeling good. They were really helping me with the exercise and weight training. I noticed I wasn't as sore after when I took them and now my muscles are really feeling it after weight training.

That is how I felt too. You are not supposed to be pbing at all if you can help it. My fill has it where 2 weeks out of the month I get stuck and pb if I am not super careful around my menstrual cycle time.

But, I was still able to eat enough to not lose.

TOM seems to be a bad time for me as well. That is definitely the cause of my most recent episode. After reading the latest posts, I think I am probably still taking too big of bites sometimes. I think I will take it easy for work lunches and stick to Soup or chili. It's just not worth being sick at work and having to explain myself.

I pb'd today on a bite of cracker when I "forgot" and drank right after. I had to run to the bathroom and bent over the toilet. The crystal light shot out of my nose and mouth and bits of cracker came out. It was soooo uncomfortable.

Otherwise, today was a good day.

I went to the gym and did weight training on my lower body.

Also did a little of the treadmill and stair climber.

My husband is loving the gym and is really encouraging me.

I have not been eating enough lately. But I don't have much of an appetite and don't eat very much at a serving. I have to carry trail mix around with me.

I almost passed out after 2 of my workouts due to not eating enough. I am not doing it on purpose and have to try hard at eating enough calories. I never thought I would have that problem!

Audree...sounds like you're not getting enough calories.. Do you know what your consumption is?

I need to start counting calories. I have binged on chocolate (not usual for me) over the weekend. My theory now...if I eat them all, then they will be gone and I'll get back on track. Crazy, huh?

I'm working on mentally preping myself for January and a big push on working out and eating properly. I'm going to do a fill and then get er done!! My plan is to work to at the very least, maintain over the holiday and get the junk food (chocolate) out of my house!!

Hey, has anyone heard of T-tapp workouts? What do you think?

Shawn

I did relatively ok for Thanksgiving. My weakness is sweets and there was plenty of chocolate cake, coconut and sweet potato pie floating around. Overall when I think about previous holiday's I did way better than I ever have and that's a plus thanks to my lovely band. I did not deprive myself. I just made sure I got my fluids in and exercised a little more. I did not gain but I didn't lose any either. Christmas will be interesting. But again, I plan to use moderation and look forward to my one year bandiversary.

Ugh, you guys, I barfed for the second time this week! I know it's just my period tightness, but I am SO FRUSTRATED!!! It doesn't help that I am between docs and I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to about it. I almost feel like I need a little unfill. So confused. Anyway, just needed to vent a little bit. Hope everyone else's week is going better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
