Anyone here?

I know exactly what thread you're talking about! I read it, too. I even went back and read the thread that prompted that comment about looking good on the outside. People get so vicious in Rants & Raves. It really is sad because I've lost respect for a couple of very successful bandsters who have been incredibly cruel in the R&R section. I try to avoid that section most of the time. Yes, we do have a good group here, and I'm always thankful for the support and the kindness. It's nice to have a safe place where you know you won't be attacked.

Wow...that type of 'forum' seems so foreign to me. There is NO PLACE LIKE HOME when it comes to you all! I'd NEVER get through my rants and raves if it weren't for you all. I don't go to a support group; other than you. So YOU ARE DA BOMB!

I'm feeling so slow, so inadequate. My loss is SO much slower than yours. I know...no comparing. I can only blame myself I am sure. I've definately NOT dedicated workouts to my healthier lifestyle, in the amounts that I should.

My New Years resolution for this past year was to loose weight. Did/doing that.

This year - will HAVE to be to get moving/working out.

I want to do good as you all!

Hey, quick question...do any of you know of an online support group, like this one for bypass patients? I have a client and I think she is on an email group, but would like something easier like this one to use for support.

She may try ObesityHelp.com

They have support groups and info there!

WOW!! This holiday season is going to be so different than any other one in my whole life!!!

Usually, I gain at least 10-15 pounds from Thanksgiving to New Years Eve.

This will be the first time that I will be at my goal weight, will not be interested in stuffing myself multiple times, than doing it again later and the next few days!!

I am going to use my "extra amo" this year.

I will take my QuickSlim30 every day and use my weight loss patch on the holiday or party days.

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

You are doing so well, you look GREAT!

My weightloss has really slowed down, i'm grateful to drop a pound these days. I figure since I'm 20 lbs from goal, it will take 6 months or so to reach it, so we'll see. I need to start exercising myself, however this darn knee is preventing me from doing some serious cardio.

Hang in there Sherilynn, you are doing great and be proud of what you've done!

Sherilynn---I definately hear what you are saying. I am laxadasical about exercise. I justify it by my already having a super busy life that that should qualify for working out. I know it is not the same thing. I am doing a mental workout to get psyched up for regular workouts in December. I did so good in October and sort of fell into a comfort zone in November. We've gotta get after it. For me, it is all about my self-talk.

I would not want any of you who have had larger weightloss to not post about it. While I think some of us get envious, it is also a motivation for me to think of what is possible. So keep it up...I'll keep trying!

Tonya, just like you, I've worked on the mental frame that it will take longer to lose this last part. For me..47 or so...But I'll just keep after it. I don't know for sure what my goal weight will be...I had an idea of 160-170 but I never set it up as the end goal. I need to get down there and see how I feel and look.

Have a great day all.

Just checking in, I'm staying off the scales, I can't believe I've managed to stay off of them. I feel about the same right now, don't feel like I've lost or gained, however, TOM is around the corner. I notice I'm a lot more "open" or "less restriction" right now. I'm trying to find out if there is a pattern, do I lose restriction right before TOM? I still haven't cancelled my fill that is scheduled for 11/21. I don't know if I should or shouldn't get a fill. I don't pb, well, I did once. But its very rare I slime. I still can eat regular bites of food, and can eat anything, but I do get full quick.

I'll see how I do over the weekend. I hate to cancel my fill then realize I need one. what to do what to do?

I find the same thing with me and my TOM. It seems like I open up right before and close during, for the most part.

Then a few times I was tight before and during.

I would just see how you do before, during and right after.

Yes, I'm staying off the scales for a couple of days, too. It just fluctuates too much and messes with my head. I don't need that added stress. I'm also considering another fill because I'm not feeling as much restriction in the evenings as I did a few months ago. I've only PB'd once or twice in the past month. Sunshine, if you can eat regular bites of anything, I think you might need just a small fill. Don't know about you, but I want it to be tight enough to prevent me from falling back into old habits. Just my 2 cents.

Hi all

We are all avoiding the scale. I have come to the conclusion that weighing once a week works best. But sometimes when I'm making good downward progress, I can't help myself. But that has been a long time ago.

I am pleasantly anticipating Thanksgiving. I know that I won't be overeating and we will be having the typical dinner with side dishes. I am thinking pumpkin cheesecake for dessert (my folks are joining us) but again, I don' t think I'll over do it. None of this stuff is the kind of things that I can eat unlimited quantities...(cookies and brownies, yes!).

I FINALLY made it back to the gym!!!!

I went on Friday. I did 40 minutes on the treadmill on an incline of 5, fast walked, jogged and ran a little.

Than I did some upper body weight training.

It felt good!!!

I was surprised that I had the energy and endurance to do such a workout since it has been a very long time.

Thanks to my "secret weapon"!!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
