I just had my surgery yesterday and I'm already home.
I was just wondering how everyone felt the day after surgery and the first week?

Wow our surgeon requires two nights in the hospital. I will say that every single day got better. The two hospital days were a blur of nausea, pain meds, peeing more than i could imagine etc. I will say the first week through friday was generally uncomfortable but definitely improved daily. I'm 3 weeks on Monday and doing really well. Can sleep on my stomach now and everything! Hang in there!

I definitely would encourage you to WALK!!! I was in pain when I went home and I feel my stomach time to heal because I just always took my pain medicine and laid around until I realize I didn't want to go back to the hospital for dehydration or complications so I made myself walk. As far as sleeping on my tummy it was a month for me it was even hard for me to sleep on my side but I am definitely pumped I am a month post op and all I want to do is exercise but I been sluggish because of my Vitamins I am not yet good with that and still is learning but all I can say is that when you start to feel better your going to be so PUMPED to do what you have to do! GOOD LUCK[emoji1491][emoji813]️

I was sleeping on my stomach within the first week. I was uncomfortable in the hospital but I took no pain meds and never took any after going home either. I started walking a week post op. My major thing was learning what my Jody can tolerate with the few calories we are taking in. I am 4 weeks out this Tuesday and I can eat so much more but not very much at all. I don't get full on liquids at all tho.

Vitamins are a pain but def take them.

I had a lot of pain after getting home ..... but ended up having a gastric bleed one week out - passed out, had s seizure and threw up blood. It was so scary - but that's what most of my pain was from.... I was admitted back into the hospital for 3 days - and by week 2 I was feeling SO MUCH better !!
Now at 8weeks out - I feel pretty great!
I still dread exercising (except walking) but I figure the more weight I lose and more active I get - my endorphins and serotonin will kick in!!! Hahahaha

I stayed at the hospital for two nights. The day after my surgery I was sleepy, in pain and sore. Not all that hungry, though. The first week, I went from feeling kinda bad to feeling okay. I had problems with feeling weak most days but overcame that feeling.

I'm almost two weeks out now.

I just felt so grateful that I was able to have the surgery and start feeling hopeful about my future. I am three months out. Feeling overall GREAT... so much better than the last several years! food is not really easy... lots of things I can't tolerate or have no appetite for, but I have found a Protein Drink I really like (Premier Protein) and I feel so encouraged by the weight loss and HEALTH GAINS that the food is nearly meaningless at this point. EVERYTHING is better than it used to be. Exercise doesn't hurt anymore... it actually feels good. Going to the doctor is no longer something I dread and feel ashamed about... now everyone notices my improved health and has encouraging things to say.

My first few weeks post-op were not really too bad. Had a lot of trips to the bathroom but after 5 or 6 weeks that leveled out. It helped a lot to have the support of my family and closest friends. A few months before surgery I decided to "come out" and let some people know that I was planning for bariatric surgery. I did it out of state so I could have hidden it if I had wanted to. But when the people who care about me found out, they were nothing but kind. It took a lot of pressure off of me, to not have to hide it. I have actually enjoyed more closeness with the people who know my "secret." It feels good to be understood and supported, and to give support to others.

Not sure how I got off on that tangent, but overall, just to encourage you... your body is healing from a big surgery, but it's nothing compared to what your body went through trying to survive obesity. Things will just keep on getting better and better. Wishing you the best.

I spent three nights four days in the hospital (4/24) . During the hernia repair they accidentally tore a small hole in my stomach that had to be repaired. I did suffer some pain. Came home for 8 days and then had a pain in my side that I couldn't get relief of. thought initially it was gas and it turned out to be a blood clot in my right lung. Worst pain i've ever experienced and it got me another 4 days in the hospital and temp oxygen. But. each day is getting easier. if it wasn't for the clot i'm confident I'd be in zero pain.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
