Anyone else getting sick?

Recommended Posts

I was around my parents for the last few days, and they're both pretty sick with sinus infections/bronchitis. I figure that it's just a matter of time before I get it, too. My ears are already itching inside and clogging up, and that's usually the first sign of sinus problems and colds for me.

I've felt like crap today, same thing, sore inside the ears, nose and throat.

That's because I did TONS of exercise earlier in the week. Like I ran 8km and walked another 6 in one days, did a run and circuit one day etc. Upping or changing my exercise routine ALWAYS results in a minor cold or similar for me. I feel better already though, I'll be fine tomorrow, lucky as I'm doing a 10km fun run Sunday.

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm trying hard not to get sick, but it's only a matter of time with all the sick folks I'm around. My doc wants me to hold off until the first of November for my flu shot so that it will last the season.

My husband was sick.. for about 1.5 weeks, horrible caughing and sinus problems.. he's still coughing (loud and obnoxious!!) but feels better. A lot of people at work are sick, and they say they blame the cotton farmers.. something about the pesticides in cotton make everyone sick..

KNOCKING ON WOOD.. I've not gotten sick, and pre-band I swear to you I caught every little thing going around. I am giving props to flintstone Vitamins :)

I was sick at least once a month last year. I've been kissing my husband despite him being sick and I've just been perfectly fine!

I get truly sick (flu, bronchitis, etc.) so rarely that I've never seen the need for a flu shot. For a couple of years, though, I was getting sick every single semester. First I got the flu, which was worse than I remember it being (it had been a good 10-15 years since I had it). I couldn't even stand up without getting sick. I finally had to go to the doctor to get a prescription for anti-nausea medication. The next semester, I got bronchitis and lost my voice for a week or so. My ears clogged up so badly that time that I had problems hearing. Again, had to go to the doctor. I probably would have gotten pneumonia if I hadn't, judging from the way my chest ached. The semester after that, I got a bad ear infection and couldn't even walk in a straight line. Seriously, I looked like I was drunk, wobbling all over the place.

Usually, though, I don't get sick easily. Sure, I'll get the sniffles, but I don't get sick enough to miss classes. Much to my dismay. :guess

Many people become awful damn sick when forced to loiter around their parental types. This is a result of finding one's own damaged youngself forced to spend Angst on the wall space with parental/progenital types.

Urgh!!!!!!!, eh.

Try taking Airborne. It works great. Everytime someone in the house starts to feel a little sick, we all take it and no one ends up sick. I don't how it works, but it does. You have to take it as soon as you feel it coming on though. If you wait, you can still take it it just won't knock it out completely. You may still get sick, but it won't be as bad. Try it. I know several people that take it and they all agree it is great!!

I guess I should give credit to Zicam too. Last year I was using those and they really did reduce the length of how sick I was compared to not using them.

When husband started getting sick, I started swabbing my nose with those things.

My dad swears by Airbourn too.. I tried it, but I hated the taste :x

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
