dallman 0 Posted October 31, 2007 That is what is being said but no change has been made in the manual as of yet. I have sent e-mails to tricare with no response as of yet. I suspect it will be January before it goes in as a change in the manual and the xl sheet that shows what is authorized. Don
phyllser 3 Posted October 31, 2007 Let me understand this, Tricare now approves the lapband????. I am due for to have the lapband surgery in about four weeks. I was so dreading having to pay the deductible and insurance from my job. Please post any information regarding when it will be effective. Thanks All I can tell you is that I was told they would pay and they have paid on ALL of my bills related to the surgery including one that Medicare denied. I need to make it clear that my primary insurance is Medicare/disability. I was told Medicare/Tricare would not pay for the dietary consults and the other day I was told by the clinic I go to that they may not pay for the fills under fluroscopy. But so far they HAVE paid both dietary consults and the first two fills I had done under fluoroscopy. I had another on Monday, so, of course, that claim has not yet hit the system. But I do believe that Tricare's position on LapBand coverage has changed.
dallman 0 Posted November 6, 2007 The newest manual change is out for tricare change 63. Lapband is still excluded:mad:. Don't know what to say. I thought it might change but I don't see it in the near future. If they were going to change the policy you would think we would have seen it in this change. minpinmom 2 Posted November 6, 2007 I am just sick. I was so sure it would be covered at this update. I just don't understand why they will pay for GB, but not Lapband. Hopefully after the first of the year when they make most of their big changes, they will re-evaluate their decision. W
squeekersinfl 0 Posted December 10, 2007 From what I have been told if the MTF offers the surgery then Tricare has nothing to do with it. It's only when you have to see a surgeon outside of the MTF that tricare gets involved and says "NO". I am being banded January 23rd,08 at Eglin Hospital. They are going to be doing the first few Lapbands on this base begining in January.
