char3672 292 Posted May 3, 2017 My sister has just started the weight loss injection Saxenda. It started me thinking....would that bw better for me than the sleeve? I am scheduled for surgery on June 14. I have been getting super nervous, and thats probably why I am even thinking about this. criolelaie 31 Posted May 3, 2017 The first time I tried Saxenda I was injecting before bed and I end up having very bad indigestion symptoms and stopped when started violently throwing up at night. Apparently it slows down the digestion and sugar absorption if I remember well. The second time I did the injections in the mornings and it didn't work at all. If you are scheduled for surgery in June I would suggest to let your surgeon know if you start any new prescription drug. Good luck
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted May 3, 2017 @char3672 Is it working for your sister? I guess my question wouldn't be if it works but if it lasts. I like most people that post here, could lose weight before surgery, but I couldn't keep it off. If I lost weight on my own starting when I started this, I would have already regained all the weight I lost and be higher than I started by now. I don't think you want to wait 5 years and see how her results are. Also for me, the big plus of the sleeve was it was a one and done. As long as you don't have complications it doesn't require a lot of additional long term maintenance. Almost everyone needs to take a Multivitamin, I took one before surgery for basically all of my adult life. Most people have a blood workup at their yearly exam. There is nothing out of the ordinary to maintain a sleeve long term. That appealed to because that makes it low cost and not subjected to the whims of changing insurance rules. I have also lost weight on my own, over 100 lbs last time, but most of it came back. I guess I'm mostly thinking about it because of my nerves. In my heart, I really do think the sleeve is best for me. I don't mind taking Vitamins, blood tests etc. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm afraid of complications. I would NEVER take anything without telling my dr, I just wish I KNEW that I will be ok, no problems, complications etc. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
