Yes I had to jump though hoops too. I am the smallest of four so I was born to be big. I went to the same doctor that did my mom's surgery. He yes I need to do it but I did not have any of the medical issues. They finally got me though with sleep apnea.
Don't second guess yourself it is the best thing you can do for your health.
