hi, I need help! I had my gastric sleeve surgery in 2014 in Cincinnati and in the same time the doctor fixed an hernia in my stomach . Few weeks later i started having pain in my stomach it's like a hunger pain. I lost just few pounds and I stopped when went back to him complaining about the pain he said it's the gall bladder I did the exam and everything was fine. In mean while we had to move to another state, and the pain got worsened more and more. So after 4years I decided to go see an another bariatric surgeon and he did an odoscopy he came back with the result saying that I never had the gastric sleeve surgery and the pain is due to the hernia. I was choked , betrayed, more depressed than ever, specially I paid cash for it. Please tell me what to do next? Thank you.

What? So what did previous surgeon do? Did he simply perform procedure incorrectly? I would definitely be speaking with him.

Well my new bariatric doctor is going to contact him and discuss what he did exactly. But he definitely confirmed and I saw the pictures that the gastric sleeve wasn't done and my stomach looks normal.

I'm sorry this happened to you. The first thing I would do is gather all the receipts and and get a statement from the doctor you just saw and contact a lawyer.

Just start calling around. Usually if the first one you call doesn't handle those kind of cases, they'll direct you to someone who can. It's medical malpractice....that's the type of case you have.

I wouldn't have your Dr contact him. I would have your Dr document everything then sue the living hell out of the other one. And report him to the state board.

If this original procedure was insured, you can also contact the insurance company that paid for it - they love doctors who commit insurance fraud.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
