Sugar Free Ice Cream

Recommended Posts

Is it okay to have? I have been having a little just to have some variety here and there. It tastes so good I feel like I am cheating! I am on the liquids stage, almost 2 weeks out, my nurse told me to just watch the carbs, it has less carbs than my Protein shakes and only 90 calories, and sugar free.

When I read the posts about what to eat during the "liquid phase" everyone talks about pured Soups. So are there other things to have besides pured Soups, Jello, pudding, and popsicles? I hope I am doing okay with having it. What do you think?

If you can stick to just a few bites, I don't think it will be a major problem. Personally, I never stuck to just a few bites and always ended up eating more! The sugar free stuff also gave me upset stomach and major gas issues, so I decided to stay completely away from it after surgery.

I haven't had any yet (because I'd end up eating too much of it) but I think frozen yogurt tastes better.

Ben & Jerry's is reeeeeeally good.

It was on my "acceptable" list for the liquid phase.

It's a better choice than any solid item...even if it's a piece of fruit or Protein. Heck, at this stage, Haagen-Dazs would be better for you than a chicken breast. Most important thing in the liquids and mushees stages is healing. So... if you're craving sweets, then yes, go for the sugar-free ice cream. ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
