Another student rant.

Well, that's reasonable. This is a distance learning class with the University in New Mexico I attended (I was a semester shy of a degree, so taking distance learning with them to get that degree).

There's no presentations, no lectures. Read Chapter X and here's the quiz. No inkling as to what the test will be over.

And I've had real classes like this too, where you just read.

HOWEVER.. power point presentations are wonderful. My first sociology class, the teacher did every class with a PP, and I just copied everything on it. The test was right off of that. Simple enough, and that's what I like!

As a 39 year old in school, I'm amazed at how well I do now. Hello, just answer the questions being asked and you get a damn A. Do the work as assigned and the material can't help but go into your brain...

But working with youngsters Jacqui, I know exactly what you mean. Group work can be such a challenge...at this point I don't care how controlling I appear to be. It's my grade too.

Teachers: You have my sympathies. I'm so not it! But I'm happy you are. Thanks for what you do.

i'm one of those people who never study for tests and rarely do homework but still manage to ace the test.

I thought I was going to be tarred and feathered for screwing up the curve in my psych. 101 class.

That would be me, too. Even in grad school, I rarely study. When I do, it's usually the day before or day of the exam. It really screwed with me during my freshman year, though. I had breezed through high school without studying, and it was a real shock to me when I got to college physics and chemistry. So, I had to learn to study. I still only do minimal studying. Sometimes, I wonder what I'd make if I actually put in a lot of effort.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
